Title: Tentative Offer Letter from the FAA
Post by: JunkyII on January 25, 2017, 03:16:45 PM
Got a Tentative Offer Letter from the FAA for the Air Traffic Control Specialist Trainee position. I'm supposed to fill out a bunch of paperwork and return it then wait for more information.

Anyone know how long this process can take? How long will it be for me to get a class date at the Academy in OKC?

Best of luck to you.  Just remember during your training don't screw-up and say something like "Delta fligh131 check your 6"

Great job Junky, doesn't seem very long ago when you were talking about joining the Army.  Glad you're making fast progress on your ATC goal, you'll do great, and I think you'll like the work too.

Are you already passed the drop date where you can get a 100% refund?

No it's this Sunday...I called and talked to them today. Going to risk it, they said it would be anywhere from 3-6 months...hoping for 4 and 1/2 :)

Ooops, I must have had a key word in there.

Here is my buddy's reply who works for the FAA:

Hey Brian, normally I would tell you that with our controller staffing shortage, the wait is the usual speed of the U.S. government. Give it a month or two and he would get an appointment to the academy in OKC. Of course, right now there is a complete freeze in hiring and movement in the federal government across the all agencies.
