Buzzsaw terrain, this afternoon. While I think the shade of the radar areas is still a bit too dark and could stand to be lightened by half, the new radar rings are a huge improvement in readability and decluttering of the clipboard map. Thank you HiTech. And thank you for the mouse-over base status info boxes. I use that feature all the time now. Well done, sir! :salute

Good improvement! :aok

I turned off the radar. I will check it's status from time to time but won't enable it.

I like the way the circles only appear when zoomed in. I'd go a step further and make the shading disappear when the circles appear.

I am trying to get use to the new feature. One of those, old dog, new trick, things.

I'd like to see RADAR in the "mouse-over" status box. On the "old" map it is clear that A14 dar is down, but not so clear on the "new" map. Also, on the "new" map, a quick glance might give the impression that radar is down at the field in sector 7,11 where the dar shading appears to be blue because of the water near the field. The "mouse-over" status box would be a definite check.

I like it

I LOVE the new dar!
I really like the new shading effect that shows the blind spots of the radar area but leaves the areas covered by another radar ring transparent.
I didnt mind the old red color but the blue is better.
-
don't like the blue circle when radar is down, prefer the red.
-
at the office, with the computer we use, theres a switch to shut off wireless. I have a ditty for people to remember to check it.
"if its red, its dead".
I feel that applies to radar also! just my opinion!
-
I dont keep the dar up, but flick it on and off to check when I "need" to, and I agree that the red circle for dar down would be much better. Also the "down dar" circles I think should be on top of the "up dar" circles. There are times that when the circles over lap that a "down dar" circle is almost completely obscured by the "up dar" circles making it hard to spot.
-
Why not make the down-dar transparent?
Since it's not working, it isn't there.

As it is now, you can tell exactly where there is no radar, even when there is overlapping. If it was the other way around, it would be difficult to tell where active radar started or stopped.

I think that would just make it harder to see/spot.

Yesterday there were times when the dar was down at a base, and the bases around were not and only a very small portion of the "lt blue" circle showed as the grey/green/ of the "up" dar over layed most of the circle. Maybe it was due to the zoom level I was at on the map, but a quick scan and I almost missed that dar was down at that base.

In the first version of this radar change, dead radar was coded with a red shaded circle, but HiTech got complaints from players who are red-green color blind - they could not tell the difference between the "up" and "down" shaded circles.

It's definitely very much less obvious when a dar is down vs when it isn't than it used to be. I don't like it, but I suppose I can learn to live with it.

Lefty is right here, kind of rude but i agree with him; Same with the stupid hangar or whatever object at the end of the runway, i crashed a 262 this evening taking off , hmm, what an improvement :bhead.

Latest dar update rocks. I like it.

I'm confused, we move the spawn point that had the building at the end to the bomber runway?

Montis map last evening i was taking off A18 east runway (to attack SKs missions :devil) , 262 with 100% fuel i couldn't reach the take off on manual , there are some trees and buildings right at the end i couldn't clear, have to squeeze narrowly in between, maybe the auto take off works .

Does this mean it is time for Superman to fly around the arena and check things out? Maybe Batman? How About a black wall from 2001 A Space Odyssey?
-
The new radar rings are perfect. IMHO

What was the altitude of the field and was it a small field? I got in trouble with that testing my terrain and setting my 262 to auto takeoff with no flaps. Now it's two notches of flaps and 25% fuel for auto take off and it just barely clears the sugar pines off the end of the fighter grass strip. A super large airfield at 5000ft can be problematic without flaps on auto takeoff.
If this was on buzzsaw, I can see people loosing 262 on takeoff by not accounting for the field elevation. Or do players think auto takeoff is a second cousin to air spawning?
Maybe the 262 should default to the marseden matting for both directions.

Naw, that map sucks.
Plain and simple. Can you not see that?
