Title: Anyone from the Memphis area?

So I'm doing a PCS to Millington, TN next year, and my wife and I are looking to buy a house in the area. What good neighborhoods should we look into? No kids, not planning on having any for a few years. Community shopping is a plus.

Memphis is a dangerous city. I don't even like stopping there for gas.  Do your homework.

Millington is the town we're talking about. It should have affordable housing in safe neighborhoods.

Millington is north-East of Memphis. Good place. So is Bartlett, which is north. Germantown is very safe, beautiful, a bit pricey. Basically, everything east and north of Memphis is solid.

Memphis, the place where decent hotels have fences similar to the North Korea South Korea DMZ. In my opinion its barely a step up from Detroit or East Saint Louis.
