Title: Big Salute to the P47's last night

I was in a 110G.  Doc4 led us perfectly into a head on pass with the buffs.  I dove through the B-17's with rockets and then cannons.  As I swung around, I picked up twin P-47s.  It looked like they were flying in formation to kill me.  Ever see the TIE fighters in Star Wars?  It looked like that.  I saw then swing in behind me and then . . . lights out.  That must have been what it was like to attack a real bomber formation in WWII.  The only difference?  Didn't hurt a bit.   :salute  Nice job escorts.

That might be 56th FG you encounter.

I think you ran into the Pigs if I recall the logs correctly. I break the guys out of the pack on twos and fours to engage. Good tactic for this group of wild swine. (S) To the Unforgiven.

I was with the southern leg of B-17s and I have to send a big <S> to all the escorts. I've flown several FSOs and have never seen such great protection from the little friends. I rode the bomb sight in for a solid 30 seconds without a hint of enemy fire.

Great big <S> to all of the escorts and fine gunners in the 17's.  Close escort is not an easy task but you guys in the 47's did a great job.
