Title: Arena Status?
Post by: cav58d on February 09, 2017, 09:20:38 AM
Is there a web URL where we can view arena (country) status and who's logged in at a particular time?

are you scared of a particular person
are you having some problems
is there something we can help you with
if you are on Knights just ask, we will help you, esp me if I am on.
if you're looking for a particular person and I if I see them I can tell them you are looking for them.

Or the positive side of the coin.....

are my friends flying?
are the guys I like working with flying?
is the "mission runner" I like planning and running missions?
are there any GV battles going?
is that crappy map still up?

Id love to see an app that allowed limited data run out of the game as well as a chat set up. Just another thing people could use/check to build interest in the game.

it'd be nice to be able to see what is going on without getting all of my gear setup and going into the game.

After 15 years and some variation of this asked for, it may well be a very good understanding of human nature.

If you can ascertain enough info about the current arena with out having to login to it, there is a good chance your biases about player numbers, terrains or even individual players will help you to not play as often. If you have to get into the arena to determine the things you are biased against, most will stick around for a bit since they have gone to the trouble to get there. Helps to maintain a cycling of numbers over the day. The outliers are the lone player individual with very strong biases about game play like Lazor or old vets who have been around a very long time. The 80% who don't know any better do not need help to not long in by following the examples of their finicky elders.

This is true. Just last night I was on the squad discord and asked what map was up. I was told Buzzsaw was up and I said "Screw that, I'm going to play Battlefield."

It's a game. How about actually coming in and see how it's going.

Why are some folks so lazy.

There is a good chance of rain today. If it is raining I'm not going to get out of bed. I wish someone was here to look out the window and see if it is raining. Guess I will just stay in bed.

For me I have lots of down time in small segments, 5 minutes here, 10 minutes there and so on. It would be fun for me to see whats going on, chat with players who are flying and so on. I think it would be a good idea to promote the game more.

I guess I don't understand the issue here. From the time I decide to log in until I'm in the arena is approximately one minute. (That's with my computer already booted and running but it would need to be to use the feature you would like.) A minute isn't much and the time would be half that if I didn't use the CH control manager software  which has to be opened and the correct game file selected first.

I don't think anyone is against it. What kind of time and resources will be used to implement it that could better be used elsewhere is more the problem.

Shuffler's right. I'm not against it. I just don't see how it will save most of us any time and therefore don't see the value. If I'm wrong, so be it. It won't bother me.

As for the guy that didnt want to set up his rig.... maybe he has to pull his controllers out and plug them in and get his area setup before he can play because he doesn't leave his stuff out, or maybe he also plays a racing sim and has to switch over to a flying sim to play. Dont get hung up on the "time" issue.

More importantly think of the "connection" deal. More people could check out what was going on on social media with out downloading the game! You could use your phone, tablets even Icrap to stay connected and see whats going on. You and a couple buddies are having lunch in the cafeteria laughing at something one of your friends said in the game, over your shoulder another guy is checking out what your laughing at and sees the "Aces High" logo on the screen and decides to look into the game. Maybe another subscriber!

They could put a 5-10 minute delay on the feed so plans don't get given away, or they could filter it. Either way a quick easy way to stay in touch couldn't hurt.
