Title: AH3 Skin Resolution
Post by: Vraciu on February 10, 2017, 11:02:11 AM
I have seen talk of 2048 res skins in the game.  Are they enabled for all, some, or none?

Until recently it was just large bombers that were 2048 res. From AH3's release on all new shapes will also be 2048 res and that currently includes the TBM, Ki-61 and Me 110s. Older stuff will remain at 1024 until the shape gets updated. If you want to know just download the default art for the shape and that skin's resolution is what you have to work to.

Did the layouts change between formats on those that have been updated?

Actually, we can support up to 4096x4096 bitmaps for the skins of any plane.

Some of the planes have an optional maximum setting (C47A, for instance) allowing for a larger than default skin bitmap size.

We have discussed setting all the multi-engine planes to a maximum of 2048, and the B29 to 4096.

When we update a model, the texture layout WILL change.  No way to avoid that and it is something we do not want to try and avoid as it allows us to use our new tools which help reduce problems with texture fitment.
