Title: Video card recomendations
Post by: 2Slow on February 13, 2017, 05:47:42 PM
I found a Nvidia GT 730, 2048mb memory DDR3 for $95.37.  Would this be a good card for AH3?

As I posted in your other identical thread in the Help & Training forum

I, personally, don't think that card is a good choice, BFOOT1 just recently replaced his GT 730  4 GB video card...see his thread in the Hardware & Software forum titled "upgrade"

Hope this helps

As I answered in your other thread: No, it would not.

It would be a bad choice for Aces High III.

2slow you can see my recent thread and see what everyone else had to say since I asked for advice. I just got my new card in yesterday and the difference is outstanding!

I just got a 6GB 1060 GamingX over the weekend. AH only seems to make use of 3GB, but I knew that going in thinking headroom for the future. Caught a sale with a rebate on top of a gift card that was burning a hole in my wallet. Anyway so far I'm finding this card pretty much laughs at AH. Hardly gets a load to where the fans even come on with most settings max'd other than the environmental slider. Skuzzy said that one crushes pretty much any card. If you can find one of them at a good price snag it.

3GB is the most DirectX will return when we ask for the free/available video memory.  We looked at ways to get around this, but they all had bad side effects.  The memory will be used, even if the numbers say it is not available or not there.
