Title: Google search...new subscribers
Post by: ridley1 on February 19, 2017, 10:03:10 AM
Ok....lets say someone is looking for  that  which  HTC offers.

To most people....google is their friend.

Am I missing something? Aces high hasn't come up in anything that I've thought to throw into the search box.

Open a beer and discuss

sorry if I've posted to the wrong forum.

Type the name of the game and it is usually on the first page.

That doesn't help if you dont know the name of the game.

Type in WWII flight game and you get this

https://www.google.com/search?q=WWII+flight+game&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

I dont see Aces High on that

Did a bing search just for grins, AH came up on first page but was last entry on bottom of page.

What did you search for? I did "WWII flight game" and it didn't show on Bing either.

Also, bear in mind that the browsing history may return false positives. If you're an active AH board reader and frequently visit the AcesHigh home page, and haven't disabled the spying features of Windows 10 and/or Bing and/or your browser, you will be seeing things you seem to like.

AH was not in the search listings after 100 results

I guess in addition to everything else Hitech has to do search engine optimization. I remember the good old days when there was just the real yellow pages.

Or the short lived internet phone book yellow pages

I'm all for a Dewey Decimal System for the internet frankly. If you don't want to be pigeon hold than you can do SEO and depend on Goog, but otherwise it seems a lot fairer. (I guess there would be lots of bots cheating though with false entries.)

Came across "Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator" during a random search but no AH3.

I'm sure it would help if you knew how to use a search engine.

But what fugitive said......If you don't know the name of the game.

Consider  someone looking to play a game like aces high doing a search.

why would  "aces high" be something he throws in the search bar? It sounds like a card game.   Or....a hit song by Iron maiden

If your searching for a WWII flight game but dont know any of the titles available, you may never see Aces High.

Back in the day that's how I found it..
Got broadband and thought..what do I really want to do with it..
Online world War 2 fighters game..
Low and behold it was there..
Its not there now..just did a search..did not see aces high.some work needs to be done surely..was Hop meant to do this kinda thing..there is a dark art of putting the right words in the right places..if you don't know how to do it..get someone in who does..
Need to be right up there in the search engines..there must be a lot of interest in this genre..traffic ..with the numbers that play war blunder etc..

Or maybe it's a secret club we all belong too..

Someone wanting to try out new flight sims and/or WWII combat games would never find it.

That's right, searching for WW2 online games either gives Flash based browser games or those delivered over Steam.

Optimizing a website for Google isn't a dark art. Gone are the days when you could use Webster's dictionary as a meta file to get boost your visibility. A handful of quality search words should do. Google seems to rather read the contents than the meta files. Titles, sub titles and lead paragraphs are what count.

Then again, Google and its partners like to sell visibility, raising the rank of their best paying customers using similar search words.

A modest adwords campaign might do the trick.

I discovered it via commercials on the Military Channel way back when... but yeah, we NEED to start getting more visible again!

If HTC hasn't cared enough to improve the games presents in internet searches for the last 20 years, what make you think HTC want's to spend the resources now?
