Same here - I easily maintain 60fps everywhere, but the large field drag me down to 15, and it ain't smooth either.
Maybe there is an arena tweak they can do to improve frame rates around these fields with out having to rebuild the terrains without them included. Is it just the number of AA guns firing that cause the FR problems?

Mine didn't quite dip that low. High 30s mid 40s for me.

I got a 1060 and it goes to crap around a big field with puffy firing.

Maybe we have different graphics settings? I'm using the default settings, so ENV is set to 1, shadows on, refelctions on, POST lighting effects enabled, etc.

Those are the reasons your taking such a hit then. Here is my current settings:
My settings are very nearly identical to BowHTR and my FPS goes down to 25-30. Get rid of this field please.
Are you still running a Radeon 6700?

The vast majority of the playing community have experienced problems around this base. Yes there is an argument against removing these bases from the maps that contain them. Like I said at the top of the thread its a great idea and these bases are huge for the strategic aspect of the game. Beyond that its just a problem.

If I'm not mistaken they are used majority on CreaterMA outside of being the uncapturables near the HQ. Just ask for them to be replaced with the normal large airfield and a town object if they are not one of the uncapturable next to the HQ. End of the drama.
No one furballs for the most part at the uncapturable feilds, and the FPS issue happens well below 30k where the 49ers come in at to bomb the HQ. You could always ask for the large village to be separated from the super large airfield to become a town02 object at the same time. It then will have to have at least one 1x1 grid separation from the airfield it's placed next to. We already have 3 different GV base objects all over CraterMA.

I am using a EVGA GEFORCE GTX670 2GB with a 750 watt power supply with some eye candy turned on and an have no problems playing on any map or any field 1 mile 2 mile mountain base's or any airfield or town

I have a 980ti and a core i5 at 4.5 ghz.....large fields drop me into the 40s when ack fires. It normal sits at the 144 fr cap everywhere else.

Maybe it's the animation of all the guns turning to fire at the plane that does it. Whatever it is, it's related to the guns firing.

When you're comparing sizes, don't only look at length, err graphics hardware and settings (for settings, don't forget FoV), but also at what kind of screen sizes you're using.
Can't remember issues the the large fields, but what's causing a big FPS hit are clouds.

I agree, but for a different reason, at least on the current map (Ndsiles?)...
The really big bases are very hard to take on Crater, but on the current map it's nearly impossible: very long drive for spawn and you pretty much need a GV assault to take one. The central ex-Vbses (now airbases) are a good thing, but switching the large airbases on the margins of the central island to megabases is not. No one bothers trying to take them because it's a waste of manpower to try, so that directs combat away from those bases. Why even bother to have them then?
