The web server speeds are slow significantly limiting the ability to download terrains.

I'm using ADSL with 15MB/s downlaod speed and I have no issues whatsoever to handle very high incoming traffic. More than that my pathetic web server running in Irland at Amazon farm (that costs me $15 a month) gives me better download speed than HTC site:

It is quite pathetic that it takes 40m(!) to download 47mb file!
It is almost like running on 56kb/s dial up line (I don't)

Not much we can do about it. The slow down was/is occurring in AT&T's network at their gateway to the European/German gateway.

Two points:
1. The issue isn't new it is so for a long time just last time it was worst
2. Can you provide an additional download mirror for European customers? VPS are quite cheap these days.

Faster than what I have. I'm only getting about 4-5MB/s.

We have a 500 mb connection. When I download from home the entire game (1.5g) comes down in a few minutes. A terrain comes down almost instantly. Not sure where you bottle neck is, but it is not on our pipe out.
