Title: B29 drone lost on takeoff
Post by: haggerty on February 27, 2017, 09:51:46 AM
I did nothing but take off from a large air base at sea level.  Even then struggled to keep it airborne.  Once I knew I was in the clear I heard the explosion of my drone blowing up behind me...why was it so far away when I hadnt even made any turns?  Will post video after sortie.

Just watch the video, I dont see anything I did wrong other than having flaps deployed on roll instead of at the end of the runway.

You are flying slower then the drones can fly.

The B-29 is infamous for being hard to get airborne properly.

Avoid 100% fuel and 40x500 lbs loadout and you should be fine. Flaps up, WEP on and drop one notch just before rotation. And use the entire runway and keep nose wheel on the ground until rotation..

yep, that was 75% fuel with WEP, I'd hate to see what 100% is like.
