What sort of changes or additions could be made to increase the value of the experience?
I think some of the following might help.
-Allow destruction of trees.
-Make perk points a general in-game currency.
-More MA maps (outsource them if need be).
-More mass produced planes, like the beaufighter for example.
-Terrain destruction.
-Social mini-games.
-Email alerts for in-game events.
-HTC brand of joystick.
-Random map generator.
-Higher quality in-game voice comms.
-Some sort of phone app for interaction.
-Different level subscriptions.
-Presence on game platforms (http://alternativeto.net/software/steam/).
-More personalization of airplanes.
-Command system with construction/destruction of country assets (fields/etc).
-Customization of pilot/gunner models + skins.
-More moderation of channels (like 200).
-Less events, more focus on the melee arena.
-Paper manual/info pages with subscription.
-Java port.
-Warning for playing x number of hours straight.
-Lights on the field/runways/terrain for night time.
-Ability to remove armour to lighten up airplane.
-Positive enforcement for people who want/play by a more fair gameplay.
-More boats.
-More interaction/game playing by HTC.
-3D printable planes.
-Merchandise (Mugs/T-shirts/etc).
-Customize the amount of ammunition each gun carries.
-Compress file transactions.

Hitech,
I can submit my map today unless you are going to update the brush to create a single meet border between off sync tiles. It will take about a day to adjust all of the textured rock borders. I left the thing minimized with clouds running, and a panther sitting in an open field under them for about 5 hours. That is one place the game used to CTD. I cannot make it crash now.

Yeah, that's a bummer.

I think pilot customization would be cool. You could choose to add googles on or off, scarves, oxygen masks, change what they wear (tunics, flight jackets, suits) and in some cases change skins color.

HT, I hope you don't mind me being to the point here, but isn't limiting yourself like saying no boats shooting yourself in the foot?
I am sure you have a direction for development/etc, but there are a lot of people with dreams in this game.
There is competition as well, like war thunder, who can fulfil those dreams and hopes of experiences.
Your word being the final one, being the important factor here.

While I understand what your saying, and it does make sense, you have to understand that HTC is a half dozen full time employees, with some subscribers that help out with a map now and then as well as skin work. War Thunder and those games have hundreds of employees working on them, and they still cant get it right :devil
What is added is most likely a small part of what Hitech and his crew would love to put out, but there are only so many hours in a day. He has said he would like to add submarines to the game some day, but dont look for them for a long while. They are a small company and Hitech likes it like that because he can control the product and put out what he thinks is best. Id guess he knows what he's doing as this small crew has been around with a nitch game for around a dozen years. Not many of the "big companies" are going to come close to that kind of staying power.

with all due respect to HiTech, please try to see the reasoning and do not take this as passive aggressive, but throughout the years many of your replies come across short and full of contempt for your customers. A bit of partisipation, reasoning, and good old customer service professionalism goes a longway to finantial stability.
Not all said ideas are ideal but they come from a good place not deserving a "hell no" response to a customer simply trying to churn up iseas feedback. Explain why something cant or will not be done does us more good.
Other large scale games (which are competitors to this) DO have persistent destroyed objects like blown up tanks, knocked over trees, etc. the "tech" excuse or hardware excuse does not work. The money excuse does, but that changes with better customer service and being creative. Invest in younger coders that know how to do some of these things. Own the physical server yourself to allow for graphic packaging vs having to code for every little detail like this was the 90's.
Again, all with respect and no contempt, which is what customers should aslo be receiving since they pay the bills.
Thank you and well done on the slow but sure improvements to AHIII!

OwlBlink.
I pay 15 bucks a month to play the game as HiTech made it and runs it. He owes me nothing for playing the game for years. I do not expect HiTech to indulge me with responses of any kind on the boards.
You seem like a solid guy. I just wanted to give you the vision I have about the contract I have with HiTech. I pays my monies, I plays his game.

Do those other games have maps that are 262,144 square miles in size, where anyone can be anywhere on the map at any time? That's a hell of a lot of objects to try to keep track of current state.

The maps we play on are HUGE compared to all of those other games. HTC has a very good crew of programmers. Top of the line, but there are only a couple of them. Hitech started Warbirds and other people started filling up the payroll and he lost control of the game. He left and started AH. I doubt he wants to go the same route he did in Warbirds. That is why he keeps his team small. No dead weight, all top notch people, but again, only a few people.

I agree with this. Especially since Owlblink spells with all of Dale's attention to Webster's. The OP's wishes were posted in good faith.

What about the BattleShip we saw in Beta? (frown face... sad)
-
If this were not the usual cast of characters with the OP starting to sound like an old vet who is using an alias, while trying to creep this up to the bleeding edge of the fire before it gets shut down due to a pile on lynching. Hitech answers questions from actual new people more cordially that I have seen over nearly 15 years. This post is gradually building up steam with the normal, I pay you $14.95 a month to do what I tell you to Hitech. So chop, chop dude and give me everything the competitor has or else I'll hold my breath while the mob tells you how not nice you are because I've resorted to holding my breath.
The competitors arenas will fit inside one or maybe four of our arena sectors, so the constant calculations for the current state of all objects do not grind the small number of players in those tiny arenas PCs to a halt. Every time Hitech gives the explanation of the difference in object numbers in any direction you look inside of our arena versus their arena. And what it would take to constantly crunch those numbers, you gents put your fingers in your ears and go la,la,la not listening.
If you want large numbers of people in the same arena with excellent physics play aces high. If you want to crush grass, bushes and trees with a small number of players, go play the competitor's games.
After 15 years of going through this every single time and being called a bad person by people who choose not to listen to his explanations. You are doing it all over again and dinging him one more time almost verbatim from the last 50 or more people who have done it in 15 years. It's a wonder he even talks to us in the forums anymore. It's pretty much, I want x,y,z and you are bad person Hitech if you disagree with me the customer. All very politely until he doesn't give you the answers you want.

Best part of this game is the rage quits and personal abusive emails when you shoot someones cartoon plane down, that is worth an extra $5 a month.

Get an island or an abandoned off shore drilling platform. Send several Aces High players there to birth a new nation known as Aces Highland. Xerox currency with pictures of HiTech, Skuzzy and others in building a stable inflationary system. Declare war against Antarctica for world stage recognition.
Any volunteers to become citizens of Aces Highland?

There are War Thunder streamers who have more players watching them play War Thunder then Aces High has subsribers....you all got to give that game some credit yea it has a arcadish flight model but they have an enormous following compared to AH.
-
Candy Crush Saga had an enormous following too....and farmville... Moms and Pops selling each other goats...There's a model. :aok

I think the popularity of those other games is the quick action and ease of use (arcade feel) that many gamers today are able to handle. It's not so much flying WW2 planes, as it is an easy arcade game with planes. The number of players who like WW2 planes and something more than a point and shoot arcade experience is dwindling; you can only blame a game so much. I flew War Thunder for a couple of months...the only thing it has going for it is pretty graphics, which is not enough of a draw for me to keep any kind of interest.
-
In regards to the "hell no/no way in hell" responses
I understand why he replied with those answers, and truth be known email alerts have been sent out in the past and some currently still are, but that is left up to the CM Staff/ CM hosting each said event, individually
As for the printed manual, that is not very cost effective! Now if the subscriber wanted to pay extra money for a DVD & user manual, it might could become something to think about! HTC asked for the Trainers to come up with a manual back in 2000/2001 time era, and not one single person even attempted to act on HTC'S request until I went back and researched/read every single post before I got there.... I then took over 3 months drafting a Training manual for the game and got up to 96 pages drafted and still no trainers even considered it until I called Dale and he read through it and gave a thumbs up! But instead of the manual being completed, it was transferred/transformed into the Trainers old website, which has recently been updated and tweaked for Aces High 3!
As for the Java port - nobody that is up to date on all the security holes that are easily accessible in Java, would allow such an access point
As for the t-shirts, mugs, hats, mouse pads, HTC has already done that for years in the past, I've got everything except a mug...
My view and thoughts/experience of the reasons for the Hell No's
Hope this helps
Btw - Aces High is approaching it's 18 year mark later this year, so a dozen and a half years, heh

I agree but their ad where it's a P51 shooting at a 109 and all you do is click to shoot which pops up a link to the War Thunder was genius....I clicked it, of course I didn't subscribe because it's War Thunder and I'm more interested in ACM then just a point and shoot air combat sim but I'm just saying, they are successful and people here think it's a terrible game without even knowing about it.

I'm pretty sure they did not come up with that themselves
That is how Air Warrior SVGA? or Air Warrior for windows (AW4W)? Was originally back in the mid 90's
Later on, the plane match up 's changed to include ad links of F4U/Ki-84, P38/FW190 or A6m5, etc.... when Gamestorm launched

The best way to get Dale's attention is with a case of that terribly expensive scotch he drinks and 6 gallons of blue bell cookies and cream ice cream. That's all the freezer will hold

Free subscription with an advertising banner that runs across the top of the screen until player converts to a paid $14.95 subscriber. Who wouldn't convert after having to watch Flo from Progressive run across the top of your screen everytime you play?

So people that pay a subscription and don't have an advertising banner would quit because those people that do not have a paid subscription are getting an advertising banner?

Let me rephrase it. You would lose a lot of paid subscriptions. People would simply deal with the ads and play for free. There's a few games, such as Arma, that has downloadable content that you can use in game. You can use the DLC's for free, but you have to deal with ads. A lot of people just deal with it because it saves them money.
-
OK, I get it now, I was obviously confused.

Y'know... That actually might be an interesting way to get people in.
Put a constant banner ad a couple inches wide at the top of your screen. Gamers will pay to get rid of it because it inhibits their SA by 10%.
That sounds like a good idea to me.
Tricky part is getting started. Who's going to buy ads that reach what, 200 people a night on a good day at the moment?
Wiley.

Arma uses ads specific to Arma. Usually it just advertises that for X amount you can remove all ads. If it were implemented, it could be a scrolling set of information related to Aces High. Ads for upcoming special events, last tours top ranked, ect. Doesn't necessarily have to ads for things outside the game.
As far as a better way to get people in, why not offer 30ENY above for free? Even if it were tiered; 30ENY+ is free, 15 or 20ENY+ is $7.95 and everything is the current $14.95.
-
Tell everyone it is free then charge them for every little thing they want to do to defeat those that payto be better and don't really get better. You know.... like those other so called popular games.
Oh another trick is to never ever disable a name. Even if it was used only once. Count it as a playing customer. You know, like the other games do.
Just forget facts and commit fraud. You know, how the other games do.
