I am ready to try my skill at making maps. Hopefully for the MA. Where can I begin to learn and explore?
Thanks!

The last Word.doc manual is in the closed Beta forum. Updates can not be made now so even reorganization is...

There's an internal Quick Start link to a sub index iirc.
The ahedit.exe is already on your hard drive.

Okay...
I am unable to open the instructions as I don't have MS Office software. I'll try on my wife's laptop and see if I can print it out.
So here is my stupid question...
Where is the "Terrain Editor"? I am looking for whatever it is I need to download so I can try to do a few things. I didn't see anything in my hitech files.
What am I missing?
Thanks!

C:\Hitech Creations\Aces High III\ahedit.exe
It's also in your All Programs tab under the Start menu.

Same here,
Open source LibraOffice opens it more than fine

Aaaaaa - HHHAAAA!!!
Thank you!
Spent a few hours scribbling a MA map together last night. I do believe I am on to something. I am going to give it a go. I appreciate any pointers as I struggle through my first one.

Make a Clip Board Map (BMP) for what you plan to make and put into the directory for your terrain. It is much easier doing work / creating land when you have the CBM in the map window that you can reference while doing things. Otherwise a little hard to get an idea of what you are trying to make when the CBM window is blank since the editor windows only zooms out so far.

If you trying to make a main arena map, it is a good idea to post (or send us) an image of your sketch to make sure you are not heading down a dead end.

Will do.
I was going to put the sketch to a MS paint file. I'll send it to you before I move forward.
Thanks!

Expect to make clip board maps religiously, you have no other way to see what you are doing. In October 2016 I made 100 so I could see where I was cutting the land mass by hand. I averaged 50 a month tweaking things. I used a map copy with the sector grid to create x,y points that I then followed in the terrain editor to cut 1mile dia. x -200ft deep dots. Then I connected the dots. Avoid having to do that, use a third party gray scale app.
"If" I ever do this again, I'm getting some gray scale app to do the proto topo work in first, then import that to the terrain editor. I felt like a blind man trying to paint a house by braille.
