I would like the ability to see further then we currently can.

You can see the sun in the game. That's pretty far away.   :D

Do you mean increasing the haze distance or icon distance?

If you mean more zoom use the bracket keys [] to adjust the zoom toggle Z.

I would like the object view distance and tree view distance doubled in the Graphics Detail dialog.

used to be you could see the Fleet from SB up to 20k away-now with the haze your lucky to see it from 14-15k
