Title: Out of USB Headers
Post by: cav58d on March 04, 2017, 12:39:54 PM
I have six USB ports on my PC and all are in use.  I want to order a Thrustmaster HOTAS that unfortunately requires an individual plug in for both stick and throttle.  Help?

Stick
Throttle
Track IR
Track IR Sensor
Headphones
Mouse
Keyboard

I figure mouse and keyboard and lowest priority.  Do they make any USB hubs that I can plug the mouse and keyboard into a hub/same port?

Thanks

Yes, just buy a powered hub.

The key word here is "powered". In theory you should be able to use 127 USB ports but since each device will take part of the power through the computer even when using a powered hub the maximum can hardly be achieved. Your planned pack shouldn't be an issue.

Do you have an additional slot on the motherboard to install an additional USB card?

Here is what I use and have no problems. All my usb devices are plugged into just this hub and its plugged into one of my usb 3.0 slots.

Powered USB hubs are the best way to go with any HOTAS setup these days.

What HOTAS do you have?

At work, it all depends on what I am testing.  At home, I do not have one as I do not have the space for one.

Had a powered hub here that just died this morning. Power button on PC wouldnt work, spent an hour with the computer open messing around. Then out of a wild hare unplugged all usb cables and tried it. Worked and tracked it straight to the hub. Something went bad in it causing the computer to not even turn on as long as it was plugged it even with nothing plugged into the hub
