Title: Round of re-asessing bomber damage model.
Post by: AAIK on March 08, 2017, 11:36:38 AM
I would like it if they could do another round of re-doing the damage model for bombers.

Some have weird toughness vs others with similar airframes.

Not sure I understand the wish exactly...

I thought the damage model for the ground objects haven't changed in some time.

Are you asking for more bombs to break stuff or less bombs?

Thanks!

OOOPS!!

I see now.  You're saying change the bombers...

What are you looking to do though?  Which bombers seem easier vs. which seem tougher from before?

Not so much "from before" but I often see a fair bit of grumbling about the B26 being a flying tank, kind of like the Yak3 but bigger. ;)

LOL

When I am attacking one.   I agree!

When I am flying one...   I disagree.  LOL  But my gunnery really really sucks...

I'm not sure if the difficulty in downing a B26 come from a high damage threshold or the speed of the plane causing me to miss more of my rounds, but they are difficult to kill.

I'm not one to grumble much, but I kill a lot of bombers and I will say the B26 is probably the single hardest bomber to kill in the game by a pretty wide margin.  I'm not sure if it's the size difference or what.

Not that I have any grounds to say whether it's right or wrong, but to my layman eyes it seems odd.

DM's got to be a royal pain in the backside to set up because there can't be much historical information at the level of "2 20mm Hispano rounds struck this aileron and it was destroyed."

Ju-88s take a lot of damage.  A hell of a lot more than a B-26 IMO.

And B-24s envy the lack of self-sealing, yet fire-resistant fuel tanks in the B-239.   :noid

The DM is antique as it is.

It probably needs a proper update all around.

Wingtip is the weak point. An attack from above or below outside the engine will snap the end off. Most people attack 26s from dead six which is really stupid. I guess they think no belly gun means no risk. I'll slow down my bombers for someone pursuing dead six....meat on the table. And no wing tanks means no fire.

Agree.  If you are attacking bombers (especially something fast like the B-26) from the dead six position, you are just asking to get wacked.

I attack bombers from their six all the time.  sometimes I get killed first, sometimes I shot 1 or 2 of them first.  I always shoot at the wings with a short burst to get the tail gunner.

I have no intention of climbing for 20 minutes to get into a better position just to nail some bombers.

so shoot at the wings and your problem is solved.

B26 can take more damage than any other 2 engine plane imo, also infested with good armament, and since they are so fast you have to be lucky to get  a frontal shot on them.
