Title: vehicle icon range
Post by: popeye on March 20, 2017, 06:55:43 AM
Please make icon range for wirblewinds, ostwinds, and M-16s the same range for both friend and enemy.  Tired of being dragged to flak that the enemy can see from 5000 yards but is invisible to me.  If it is invisible to me, it should be invisible to the enemy too.  (It will still show on his map so not entirely hidden, just not quite so easy to use for ambush.)

Amen brother but I would lay money on this request being ignored.

+1 (better yet reverse viechle icon changes that were done couple years ago reducing them from like 2-3k to all the way down to what is it now 1k ? all the aspects of the game that can be made more realistic making spotting ground viechles damn so diff. just for the sake of realism is just an other joke from HTC i guess... )

If AA vehicle icon range is by default less visible than other vehicles than yes, others wise -1. I've been dragged to ack and don't like it, however I do like surprises though I'll curse that SOB for such low down dirty dog tactics.

Just remember the Ostwind and Wirbelwind do not have programed in the correct range they could reach out and touch you.

Actually the turret rotation speed is historically correct now for the hand cranked versions. Supposedly there was electronic motored versions that gave a higher speed but no evidence of it ever going into combat vehicles.

just take away the computer range finder when shooting at planes. It's better than 70s tank had, even with laser range finder.

planes and gv's don't have computer range finders in AH3. ok if I'm reading this right-you want to be able to see these vehicles at the same range you can see your friendly gv icon-got it. what the h#ll, not long ago I posted a wish to increase the range to where I can have a little easier chance to see a stopped-engine off gv instead from 600 to 800-and to keep the range when engine on gv moving at 1000. which is what it is now... I asked because of how the thick the trees are now..

and man you people just cut me to piece's tore me up. now you want it to change.. Fickle are the Players of Aces High.. oh and by the way, when gv visual range is change is changed, it's for all gv's not just Antiaircraft. you might want to think about that, you would be putting your own gv'ers at risk.  :airplane: :bolt:

I think save means the distance indicator on the icon.

Please let me know if you can't see a full size pickup past 1800' when driving. That is just over 3 tenths of a mile....

If you can't see something of that size when it is just sitting there, then I need to stay off the road when you are driving.

Getting one pinged by invisible gvs gets old really really quick...

1. -The new trees favor GV's with their engines off. You end up having to get really close to catch a flash of red, then you have blown by and have to keep circling to get another flash of red. And zoom is a 50\50 proposition of making out that vehicle even if you have identified it's tree.

2. - This makes wirbels and ostis a real PIA when they lay up an AA patch.

3. - Only airplane drivers are concerned with this, mostly because their easy vluch victim can use his own AA patch as a trap.

WW2 was just as bad or worse in many places in the ETO, and I watch some of this post's complainers use their own wirbel guys as traps to make up for their own ACM screw ups. And from what I hear screeched in the tower, they would probably only be happy if Hitech made everyone else die if they just look at them. Why?....anytime they die it's unfair and wrong and Hitech is an old meenie. It never changes and Hitech can never make anyone happy about loosing in this game.

I agree with reducing the range the osti and wirb can see a plane to the same distance a plane can see them as long as they also make icons invisible when in external view.

If I'm flying near an enemy airfield I expect to get popped and that's fine.  I find it a lot more irritating to get popped by some invisible guy on the ground while I'm already fighting 3 of his friends in the air. Or by the invisible guy parked under the furball. Or even most by the intrepid invisible guy who parks half a mile off the runway after I've just taken off.

Wirblewind and Panzer IV are exactly the same dimensions.  It seems that icon ranges should also be the same, to make them equally "visible".
