Title: A useful grass roots marketing tool?
Post by: Wraith_TMS on March 24, 2017, 02:34:02 PM
I put together an interactive picture/video slideshow showing off Aces High 3 in order to test an authoring tool (for the work that I do).  It occurred to me that, though HTC probably has its own marketing ideas in the works to promote their game, the AH players' community could assist in this too by using this slideshow to help attract new players through a bit of grass-roots marketing, if you folks out there think it's useful.

For instance, if/when we players mention AH3 in discussion forum posts (e.g., Reddit or elsewhere) or tweets, emails, or whatever, rather than just describing the game, we could show our audience what AH3 is visually, by linking the slideshow into posts or embedding it on web sites to expose the game to people who don't know about it or have been away from AH3 a long time. To do this, we grab and post one of the links (below) or its embed code:

Slideshow short link:http://bit.ly/2nWdFJy (http://bit.ly/2nWdFJy)

Slideshow long form link:https://www-drv.com/site/v451ngnjv7for7o2f8anaq/AH3Slideshow/ (https://www-drv.com/site/v451ngnjv7for7o2f8anaq/AH3Slideshow/)

Slideshow Features/Benefits:
Note to HTC:  Again, I'm sure you folks have your own plans for more professionally developed marketing, but if you think this is good enough to help promote your game using a bit of quick, low-cost guerrilla marketing, by all means use it too.

FWIW,

Nice job!

If you can, correct the typo on slide #2: mufti-player isn't a politically correct expression these days...

Slide 14 is the Jagdpanzer 4 not the Hetzer
same thing on slide 28.

Nice job.  Might be a little heavy on WWI, relative to the activity in that arena.

Looks good, however the very 1st pic is of a P-38 with porn on it I recommend a different 38 skin.

Thanks for the spell- and fact- checking; much appreciated.  Fixed slides #2, 14 and 28 (sorry 'bout that, I don't know the GV's that well... haven't played the ground game in years).  Fixes should be live now.

some of the photos are a little grainy and the text on a few, like slide two, is hard to read due to a lack of contrast.

clean those up (especialy the b-24 formation pic.) it would be marketing material.

looks great.

 :salute

p.s. torpedo boobs on slide one.  :old:

Nicely done Wraith!  The Betty bomber on slide 32 is a G4M not a G3 I think.

Thanks for continued feedback.

Corrected "Iova"... (reminds me of Young Frankenstein... "Sedagive!?")

Corrected Betty bomber desig.

Increased DPI/adjusted pics on the grainest pics.  Can only do so much there as they were already highly compressed. Deleted the second Liberator pic as it was not fixable. Best I can do; please let me know if you have better replacements.

Fixed low contrast slide 2 text (something glitched there, as I had the background much darker originally).  Anyway, fixed that one and others.

Thanks for taking a gander at this.  I'm using a fantastic tool but it lacks key features like a good spell checker.

Anyway to add music and effects?  I could see this being even more effective with narration, shaking camera with explosions, slides with pan and zoom, etc.   Really cool idea Wraith!~

I can add audio files (limit 16 mb/upload or links) to specific slides, but unfortunately, there's no way to add any effects like shaky cam to this, Oboe.  It's a great suggestion, but the tool I used has its limits.

I'll tell you what I wish I could include as a YT video to show off the kind of fun that AH provides.  If the following video could be updated to the AH III game engine, I'm sure a lot of people would dig it and get why AH is so fun...  It's a video from 2013 BoB frame 4: https://youtu.be/Xk9V66e88eI (https://youtu.be/Xk9V66e88eI)   (There's another one from the same scenario that's just a riot... hilarious, adrenaline fueled fun).  I find this clip very compelling to show just how intense AH can be; pure fun, but of the white knuckle variety.   But that video has AH2 graphics and won't cut it to show off AH3.  So it would be wonderful if whomever put the original clip together could try updating it and re-editing it with AH3 graphics/maps/sound engine.  But...oh well, we do what we can do.

It sounds good, If it works at all Im sure HT  will be happy for the help, after all he did ask all to help promote the game, The nasty trash talk doesnt help it much though,  I guess some people can post to the community on here and others are supposed to keep their ideas to themselves.   If it works at all Its would be great,

There is a reality crucible component to the forum community due to many members have been here 15 and more years. What if is fine until what if is run through the reality of the game. You can always use search to see how your what if fared up to 20 years ago or, anything similar. Nasty trash talk, the normal evolution of new people with new ideas is everyone is supposed to ooh and aww about it because it's new and special or something like that. Then get called nasty names for challenging the idea because the idea person has nothing but what if to support asking Hitech to change the game for a what if. And they don't have enough experience with Hitech to know he hops on any what if it has merit from his perspective for his game before you can blink. Very few ever try to understand Hitech's perspective about his game or the game itself. So alot of what ifers complain in these forums that they are "victims" of mean people.

As for personal trash talk, Skuzzy ban hammers them or rule numbers them faster than you can blink.
