Title: Sherman DD
Post by: haggerty on March 27, 2017, 06:48:26 AM
Would make the naval invasions a bit more interesting, having a tank with at least some AT capability.  To make it really easy you could just create a copy of the M4 we have in game (to remove rocket option) and making it only available when the CV is in a feet dry position to avoid having to code it for swimming capability.

Didn't most of them sink?

Didn't most of them sink?

The ones on Omaha did but that was due to being dropped too far off shore where the waves and swells swamped the DD Shermans.  The other beaches the DD Shermans had much better success.

+1 I'd try it.  Don't know if I would make it necessary to have the CV right onshore to use it though - I'd rather see the swim coded.

A couple of 7.7mm, glub glub...

A saw a Swedish S-tank (they also used bulges) go to bottom of a lake, it was hit by a Bandvagn 202 (also amphibious) on the side into the bulge, crew panicked and fogot to stop the gasturbine before it sank, Looked like a gigantic fountain of water before engine died.
