This came to me in a dream last night so forgive me if it sounds kinda' whacked but...
CV battles are some of the most fun in the game. Yesterday we had a great one with enemy land-based bombers and fighters trying to penetrate the CAP to wreck our boat. A real blast.
However, once the CV gets clobbered the fight dries up, as is to be expected.
So, just like town resupply could we not have some sort of damage control party action on the CV (even if it is just our little stick figure men running with a firehose from one place to the other to repair damage/put out fires)? It could add another dynamic to these battles.
I can see pros and cons, of course. Any way... Just a wild random thought.

the CV already repairs itself if not sunk just takes longer than you may like

So does everything in the game, with reduced time due to resupply. This idea is a variation on that theme.
Perhaps unworkable. But it was a thought.

Resupply ships for supply while at sea did this during WW2. In our environment they would be sitting ducks hunting around for our task groups even if it was someone sitting in a GV fight 5 sectors away commanding the supply ship towards the CV icon. Much of the time when our CV's take damage, it's not long before it gets a respawn back to it's port courtesy of players from the opposing country. And sending a supply ship into enemy territory is giving players a free kill. For game play with the CV task group, it's faster to let it get sunk and start over with a new destination to attack.

Damage on the CV (not guns and radar) heals in 5 minutes so i see no reason to resupply it.

I'm not saying resupply it. I'm saying use the resupply modeling tweaked for damage control using men not Goons or ships.
They get sunk pretty easily and there goes the fight.

I'd have to say there is no chance that a supply ship would ever catch a CV to drop supplies. The only way I can think of is to let a goon drop supplies on a CV just like it does any other base.

That's not what I am proposing.

more like 25 or 45 minutes

Zimme is correct here, all hull damage to the CV heals in 5 minutes.
All damaged objects heal in half their (unmodified) downtime, which in case of the CV is 10 minutes.
