I wish to add seafire's to the launch rails on the back of the Battleship to launch for ship defense. it could be selected like you do guns pt boats etc. thankyou
seafire to launch off the rails of the Battleship for ship defense. esp when the cv goes down.

I think the BB has enough defense in the way of it's own weapons, plus two DD's. Also , usually there is a Carrier Group no far away ( usually). I would like to see float planes added to search for other enemy fleets.
-
lol, we JUST got them (BB's) into main arena.... but the search plane/seafire would be a nice little addition.
Do each BB typically spawn with a CV group? or only by rear admiral cybro would they be together steaming somewhere.?
-
didnt they launch Swordfish, not Seafires?

I think the Iowa-class had a complement of (2) Vought OS2U Kingfisher observation planes. Could carry a couple small bombs under the wings and the observer position had twin .30 cal machine guns in a flexible mount.
It would be a match for the Storch!

sorry you guys are right--> World War II: 3 × Vought OS2U Kingfisher/Curtiss SC Seahawk floatplanes.
oh well. wish withdrawn

How many of you have shelled the BB from a shore battery and discovered it's Achilles heal? If you are good with the shore battery gun, you can rapidly take out the three 16in gun batteries on the BB and reduce it to a large AA barge with two destroyer escorts. A box of Lancs can do something similar 1 to 2 passes along with the cruiser has faster reloading 3 gun 8in batteries than the BB's 16in batteries. I'm not sure how a jump ramp Hurri will protect it from this. Stuffing the BB task group in with the CV task group appears to be a better solution.

I still think its a good wish to have a spotting aircraft spawnable from the BB group and even CV group. Its helpful for those base caps where you need to find the hidden GV but cant fly a storch from the nearest base as it would take 48 hours.
PBY/OS2U/Seahawk

I'd like to see float planes added to the BBs and CAs. Also, why on Earth are the main turrets so fragile? They are incredibly well armored in real life, and it should take something on the order of another 16-inch shell or large armor-piercing aerial bomb to take them out. Exactly what calibre/size are the shore battery guns? I understand that you need balance in the game, so I guess that might be the reason.

I think shore battery has the same modeled gun as the CA, so 8in.

You mean I can you use an AP bomb in the game finally!? Always wondered what that would be for besides the CV deck....

Historically, neither USN or IJN flattops had armored decks (Brit CVs did, but it reduced the number of A/C it could carry compared with other nations' CV of comparable displacement). I do wonder if ships in AH model armor (in the way that tanks are modeled), or if the software just adds up total weight of ordnance (i.e. can you sink the cruiser with your side-arm, if you shoot it a zillion times?). A BB typically has waterline belt armor and main gun turret front face armor that is roughly equivalent to the diameter of the main guns (a rule of thumb), while the deck plating is some fraction of that. So a close range shot with a given calibre of armor-piercing shell to the side of the hull doesn't penetrate, but a long-range plunging shell of the same size might easily penetrate the deck armor.
