Title: Thunderbolt on Netflix
Post by: mutha on April 05, 2017, 09:53:23 PM
Hey all you Jug fans -

Be sure to check out a 1944 documentary just released on Netflix called Thunderbolt. It follows a P-47 squadron in Corsica on a mission to bomb bridges in Italy. The film crew mounted cameras all over the planes, so the footage and detail is fantastic.

I saw it on YouTube a couple years ago. It looks really great on the big screen.

William Wyler, same guy who did Memphis Belle.  There is a great documentary on Wyler and four other Hollywood Directors that dropped everything and put their skills to work documenting the war, including John Ford, John Huston, Frank Capra and George Stevens.  Some amazing film from that show too.

The Jugs are 57th FG, 12th AF flying in the MTO.

I think I have it from zenos or one like it. I think the P-47 is a real film star.
