So I got a new 144hz monitor but I can only display 60hz at the moment because my mini-dp to dvi is not a dual link. Everything is working fine until I enter the arena, screen goes black and then starts to update the image slowly from the bottom up. Some flickers and it repeats the process. I upgraded to the latest nvidia drivers and thought maybe the geforce experience was causing it, have never seen its on screen options before. Disable that and had no improvement. I verified that the game is using my 970M and not the intel graphics.

decided to give DX11 a try, works without any issues.
I notice the video settings in DX11 shows *DISPLAY 1* after the video card, DX9 does not say that. I notice that the screen is black for a decent amount of time when alt-tabbing, guessing its just a drawback of using an external monitor instead of the laptop screen.

Based on a quick search it seems that the GTX970 is at the lower end for 144Hz. For example see http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2990039/gpu-play-1080p-144hz.html (http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2990039/gpu-play-1080p-144hz.html).
That, plus knowing that the Mobile version is much slower than the desktop version: http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-970M-vs-Nvidia-GTX-970/m17319vs2577 (http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-970M-vs-Nvidia-GTX-970/m17319vs2577).
Plus the lack of dual link you mentioned.
-
First, your nice NVidia graphics card is listed as a "Render only device", which is a common problem many have with Windows 10.
But what disturbs me, even more, is DirectX does not seem able to figure out how much video memory the 970 has and is not detecting any monitor attached to it. It really appears as if you are using the Intel video chip and not the 970.
You might want to contact Dell and ask them about this one, because there is certainly something not right about this.

played around some more today, I realized that even though my laptop was closed it was set to display on the laptop and my monitor. I changed it to monitor only and fired up DX9 again. It loaded just fine, strange that DX11 would work fine without the change though. I have the nvidia control panel to use the dedicated 970M in the global settings so all applications should be using it, Aces High only sees the 970 in the video settings before logging in.
Bizman, I've ordered the necessary cables to get the 144hz capability, I also have a 980ti I'm getting from a buddy to use in my graphics amplifier. With the 970M keeping the game capped at 60fps, i'm sure the 980ti will be more than enough to take advantage of 144.
