Title: PappyMac
Post by: oakranger on April 15, 2017, 12:28:16 AM
Pay attention who is in-front of you before you pull the trigger.  I was 200 out on that 109 until you got trigger happy and took my wing off.

Is this the best way to handle this? :headscratch:

I'm thinking he was relatively nice about it...
Idk if it were me i wouldn't be so kind.
Its hard enough to find someone to shoot at sometimes let alone dodge friendly fire that's never friendly.

Then why not take up the conversation in private?  Hmmmm....

That's why I limit my friendly shoot-downs to squaddies.  :t

No I am not being pissed about it.  I was sitting in the tower for 10 mins going over my head Of my attack to clear junky six.  I obsessively check my six, do not recall seeing any 109s that was on me any point (that's what I thought that got me).   But I recall in a split sec. two friendlies near on my six by the time I was going down. I did not know how close they were.  That's when I start realizing that one of them my have shot me down. Lost my wing right when I was about to fire hell on the con who was 200 out.

Friendly fire / kills, happens frequently in FSO on both sides, Allied & Axis, chalk it up as something that is going to happen and try to give a heads up when you are behind a friendly and closing in quick/faster than the friendly in front of you....make an honest effort to let them know where you are as well as what side you will be passing them by!

I did this exact thing last night for HP51, letting him know that I was coming in and what side I was going to pass him by, so he would be aware not to shoot me... really simple use of comms and SA, if you think about it...

One thing that all of us can count on.... Friendly fire/kills will continue to happen on both sides... it is up to each of us individually to try our best to not let it happen....

There really is no reason to ever bring it to the boards, mistakes happen and will continue to happen.... the best thing to do is to teach and guide players in the proper way of communicating and SA....

Hope this helps

As being PappyMac CO I would like to apologize for the kill shot but at the same time he was trying to do the same, save a friendly, mistakes happen and I encourage the squad
to protect not only his squaddies but all allies. In the heat of the moment and limited time to get the 109 before he gets a shot on junky, and maybe you pulled up into Pappy's line of fire, like mentioned earlier watermelon happens. I will talk to the squad to be more careful, but I would like pm's directed to me if you have issues with the 162nd.

I usually wont shoot if theres a friendly in front of me. that way I cant be accused of shooting someones wing off. I wait til he gets out of my way. then I blast the red guy!!!!
