Half the trailer was looking at a black screen randomly inserted into it. From all I can tell by the trailer is there is a fight scene at some point in the movie. Other then that it was a horribly made movie trailer

I thought it was a great trailer. Just little taste of what's to come.
Too many trailers these days give away the whole story. Hell, the Spiderman: Homecoming trailer feels like watching the entire movie.

It's not a trailer....it's a teaser....
See here's the link to the original...movieclips just titled it as a trailer for more clickbait.

Home Alone was the worst example of this. That said, this Star Wars trailer/teaser told me *NOTHING* except it's darker than it is light... :headscratch:

It's how they do it these days to hype up movies and shows...just look at the Game of thrones teaser....they didnt even use a single thing from season 7 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qq0B0NVKghA&t=4s but it puts it in the back of their mind like 'oh thats coming soon" so when they do see the actual trailer it's better and they are semi looking for it.

I think it would be rather silly to put out a full blown trailer when the movies is not scheduled for release until December 15.
They are going to build it up, just like they did with the last one. Seems the formula is working for them.

That kind of advertising formula ALWAYS works with a "living" brand like star wars. There are millions of fans, both hardcore and casual, who will have their interest sparked by ANY new brand content. The fact that this one has so much mystery built into it is an advertisers wet dream. Even the real world has thrown in a sad plot twist, and will they have to explain away Leia's absence now or 2 years from now? Yea Solo got killed off but was Leia written into the script and so had to be written back out?

It's sillier still to show....nothing.
My enthusiasm (as low as it already was) actually declined seeing this thing...
I watched The Force Awakens on a plane ride back from Africa. It was okay, not the best, but better than I had expected. The ending REALLY got me pumped up seeing Luke like Obi Wan with a resigned/determined look on his face. This teaser/trailer sapped all that away.
"'The Last Jedi': Because 'The Last Starfighter' and 'The Last Samurai' Were Already Taken."

Up until this weekend with The Fate of the Furious, The Froce Awakens was the biggest opening in history....so their advertisement plan for hyping the movie is obviously working. And if you are trying to say the force awakens was better teaser well you are just wrong.....here they are side by side....they are nearly the same.

They should have dropped an April Fool's teaser with Jar Jar. That might have broken the internet.

Anakin had an illicit relationship with Jar Jars sister, and her (its) offspring is a freaky mutated being with jedi powers. Fast forward to now, and now you have a new breed of jedi that can both use the force and be mind numbing retarded at the same time

From the dialogue that Mark Hamill is stating as Luke Skywalker, "I only know one truth, that the Jedi must end." I believe that is being used out of context to create surprise among the vast majority of viewers who are not well versed in Star Wars lore.
My best guess that the "change" is the move from the 'monk' model of a Jedi who walks in the light as opposed by the Sith who walk in the Darkness. Abandoning the moniker of Jedi for a new way of being a Force wielder.
A Force wielder who uses all aspects of the Force. What they call a Grey Jedi. I assume that the script writers will coin a new term for the movie.
The monk way is what led to the downfall of the Jedi. There are YouTube videos explaining that.
This will be a good direction for better stories down the road.
