Anyone know how to get the remove the blades from the hub on a McCauley C/S prop? I've got an old prop from my 182 that I would like to pull the blades from to use as art. I haven't been able to find anything on line, the local prop guy was less than enthusiastic about doing it for me (wtf, he gets shop rate?).

Got a sawzall? :old: :)

I have had real good luck ramming into objects to get rid of my props

Found a standard youtube how-to video for that prop removal.

My link is bit more on the realistic side, little less of the "reality tv" fantasy flavor I guess. :old:

Bunch of friggin comedians! I was hoping one of the A&Ps here would have a comment.

Not that it will help much...... We just took the entire prop off and sent it to a certified repair station. We didn't try to deal with it as rebuilds etc. were kinda specialized.

IIRC it is a retaining ring assembly. Remove the ring and push in and twist to release the inner retainer.
However, this is from deep in the recesses of time (1990 ish) so I may be full of AH FM.

That's what I assume...can't be all that hard but I'm not seeing it. Getting things apart usually comes easy, it's the re-assembly that can be challenging. :)

I can send one of my kids over. They're very good at breaking stuff. :rofl

If it's "on the locks" you'll need a prop paddle to release it. There will still be coniderable stored energy in the springs. What model is it? I'll see if I can find some documentation.

Just from memory a 2A34....I'll drag it out of the shed and look today. Thanks
