For all of you on the receiving end of being told to build your own terrain as the answer to yelling at Hitech over current terrains. And the unspoken reality never admitted is, how the heck do you really do it if I even wanted to. I've started a new terrain so I can use the Pacific tile set. It is called oceania because I researched the Solomon islands and islands north of Australia so I could stuff islands into a terrain and give each side 4 of each CV and BB task groups.
I've started a post in the Terrain Editor forum so I can update it with screen shots of building the terrain which gives you pictures showing the editor tools being used. I'll update it with ongoing screen shots of the terrain as I'm creating everything.
This post is where I'll update with screen captures.

This post is where you get the PDF copy of Easyscor and Greebo excellent terrain editor manual. And you can ask the terrain building team all of your questions.

Examples of my work in progress from the terrain editor. Any of you can do this, it is as easy as using MS Paint.

If you change the colors just a little

We could call it OreoMA. :D :D
All kidding aside, the work so far looks pretty good.

It's time consuming, at least my terrain will give you an immersive quality. Hopefully the new cloud system will be available before I finish this one. Looks like Chuikov will have one out the door pretty soon that will be really quick action. It's only 10x10 with 22 fields per country, so it will play quickly.

10 X10? less then 1 sector per side? not sure how that works.

10 x 10 sectiors I.E. 256x256 miles.

Bustr's grapefruit map is already a fan favorite I think his Oreo map will be one too :D

I was trying to remember what we called it when he was designing the first one... :rofl

If my terrain gives you fun playing on it, call it whatever makes you remember it. I'm just dong my part to help keep the doors open. My post in the terrain editor forum is to show how easy terrain building is. Pictures like these go much farther to explaining things than big walls of technical text.

what is with all the Pizza Jr. buzzsaw Jr. terrains? why do they all have to be round, change it up, because sooner or later they all going to look the same and be the same

lunatic,
Have you ever tried to build a terrain and gone through the background process of working up the layout to balance game play?
When you are on any terrain you can only see about 20 miles in any direction. So how the local 20 miles is created will matter when you look at it. The clip board map is showing you 125,000sq miles called the arena. How does the shape of that matter if the background rational promotes activity by the players and each local 20 miles is created visually well? Any 20 mile visual look on any terrain looks like you are in the center of a 20 mile area. It does not look like the view down on 125,000sq miles into the clip board map.
I'm posting the information and screen captures from my current terrain production so you can build your own terrain. I doubt anyone is going to listen to you and build your terrain "demands" because you want something different.
Even if a terrain is laid down looking like a map on your table. You still have to draw a ring around the max diameter possible and divide it equally by three to fit an equal number of bases into each 1\3 of that defined ring area because the game is defined by three countries. I do the barrier ring wall so everyone starts out the same in their race to the map flip, and it makes production of 125,000sq miles simpler for me to get maps into rotation. If you dislike the format that much, you know my terrain won't last very long because it is designed to get flipped because it promotes activity.
Do you understand what it takes to create a terrain for the MA? The finger painting process I'm documenting is the simple part. Balancing game play, is a bit of an art learned by watching how other maps play while they are in rotation. Not for how the whole map plays because not all parts of any map promote activity. But, there are areas on any map that players consistently use for activity. You observe them and listen to players talking about the activity in those areas versus being told your map sucks build it my way here in the forum.
On my terrain I was surprised to find that the Gvers did not segregate like the furballers did to the airfields I setup with no GV spawns to them. I setup the rest of the map for GV action. Instead the Gvers got into bombers and fighter bombers, and helped the furballers win their fight by capturing the airfields with no GV spawns. Activity draws crowds until it burns itself out. And what players tell each other while in action on a map versus telling you everything they think will generate activity while writing in these forums is completely different.

Question:
Will it be possible to have cloud cover for GV's? Some v bases are up pretty high.
Low moving clouds rolling through a gv fight would add some fun and provide some cover
for those on the offensive or defensive.
I am curious if we could add that in the future. Thank you.

Hitech gave me some rules for clouds. 2000ft agl from the ground with exception to touching mountain or outcrop tops was one. I created cloud banks to hide task groups. I tested clouds running across the ground at a 3k base, you cannot see anything including the trees that eat your plane.

There is only so much you can do to make all sides equal, or as close as possible to equal. It is wheels or spokes.
In the end you only see the whole shape from...... SPACE. Stay zoomed in if it alters your existence. :)

I didna read all you wrote, but i'll just say while I love the bowlma terrain not all terrains have to be round--there are other terrains that came before Buzzsaw and Bowlma that are not round.
No I do not know how to design a terrain- nor do I have the computer power to do it. that why I do appreciate the the work people do in making maps. Thankyou

~not all terrains have to be round--there are other terrains that came before Buzzsaw and Bowlma that are not round.~
I suppose you probably won't read all of this either lunatic, reminds me of people who don't hear what you tell them until you agree to do what they want even if it kills you. They just want what they want......
Does this mean if you were the final review to yea or nay all terrains for the MA you would force everyone to build them your way? So I guess since you are unhappy about "round" which you can only see from a low earth orbit snap shot called a clip board map, I should scrap the terrain I've just started. Flush all that time spent researching and teaching myself how to create a grayscale heightmap file to import into the terrain editor so I could cut out a month or so of really tedious work. It took me two months to get all of the land mass cutting finished on that other terrain.
There was a player who was aggressively adamant about my first terrain being a strategic failure of epic proportions, that you seem to like playing on. So I offered to make him happy by asking Hitech to delete it from rotation and all of the files related to it. I can do without the headaches terrain building will always slam me with. Like the lost 60 minutes of work today that I had to duplicate for another 60 minutes. So why don't I just delete the new project because you don't like looking at round terrains in the clipboard more than you like playing on them and put it out of my misery.
Will that be ok with you lunatic, otherwise I will build my terrains the way I want to build them.
So if you are unhappy with mine and other players terrains being some form of "round", I'm documenting terrain making in screen captures for you and whoever else is "unhappy". Why not bring together unhappy players like yourself and create "your square terrains" as a group effort? You gents design it and be the review committee at every stage. There has to be one player in the community willing to invest his time and creative abilities into your projects, happily take your creative orders from beginning to end, and not unfriend you for life.
That post in the Terrain Editor forum is the most you will get out of me, and even it takes time at each step to pull screen captures, and write about them in a meaningful manner.
