There have been many requests of HT in the past "to do something" about the players who stay logged on overnight, driving up ENY and thus making the game less enjoyable to play for his teammates. I've always assumed these people were simply ignorant of neglectful, but when I politely asked a serial tower-sitter to log off when he was done his answer was (summarized): "Screw you. Bish might win the map while I sleep and I want the perk points." The most often tendered solution has been for HT to forcibly log off players who have been inactive for a set length of time, but this has not been done and I'm assuming there are good reasons for it, though I can't imagine what those might be.
So! New suggestion: deny perk points to players who have not landed (not upped, too easy to just park something somewhere) a ride in six hours. I am extremely ignorant of coding and technology in general, but I assume that if HT can make it impossible for a player to change teams for six hours, he can deny perk points for someone who has sat around doing nothing for that long as well.
Thoughts?

Works for me.

What makes the "kick the in-active" so difficult, is how do you program it to tell the difference between an active person and an in-active person using a macro?
-
I was unaware that you only get the perk points if you are on-line when the war is won. I thought everyone currently on the winning team got them. Also it's only 25 perks.
My idea....
1) People in towers don't count towards ENY. Only players in a vehicle or planes, or Guns.
ENY would be more dynamic.
2) Only people in Planes or Vehicles or guns get the perks when the war is won.

Vink #1 sounds like an easy enough plan. The country numbers already get parsed that way. The problem is it'd just train people towards #2 and park themselves in a hangar or manned gun in some backwater base to get the points that way which is what at least some of them are doing currently. It is what it is. People get all hung up on the points. I guess I have a few by now! Couldn't tell ya how much.

Woo hoo, I didn't know I could get perks this way. I'm switching to Bish, and gonna park my rump in a tower. :x
J/k. I'd never go Bish. :bolt:

I do not tower sit... but I really think folks should be more concerned about earning their own perks rather than denying a meager amount of perks to others. :aok
-
Every time I have checked country status, the amount of tower sitters is about the same across all three countries. Also note it is impossible to tell how long a person has been online and not active from a player's view point. If you eliminate those that are in the tower for less than an hour, my guess is the number of remaining tower sitters would be quite small.

This has been discussed a few times. What prevents people from waiting in the tower for ENY to drop then launching a mission with low ENY rides? ENY would fluctuate severely and it would be abused.

Every guy that took flight would increase ENY. Nothing happens simultaneously on a computer. So the first few guys might get that lower ENY bird, but as they're launching, ENY will be climbing. It wouldn't work.
As to the OP, it would simply require a slightly more complex script to get around.

After years of players complaining about ENY & tower sitting I have finally come up with a solution.
In the next version I will be removing the display of players counts in flight and only display total players. :t

i don't care what tower sitters do to eny--my problem with tower sitters is their fellow countrymen tryin to win bases or defend bases-and you have 15 to 20 players in the friggin tower chaps my hide every time..
but you can't make people play your way-not that i would if i could. we pay to play our way and if you force players to log off. you can say goodbye to those players. they will go somewhere else.
if you check my record you will see i fly a bunch of different aircraft-so eny no problem

Big flippin' deal.
First, any method to boot towered players will only result in "tower sitters" grabbing a GV and parking it under some trees.
Second, I'm sure the player percentage of tower sitters is pretty much even across all sides, so booting them will not change ENY at all anyway.

^^^^^^^^This^^^^^^^^
Quit focusing so much on how others are playing and just go play. There are a million ways you can make yourself feel miserable, get over it.
-
Going theory is tower sitters effect all counties equally. ENY will remain unchanged if you boot tower sitters from all sides. Net effect will be zero.
What am I missing.

Really. Learn to fly some of the other planes here.

I fly every Axis fighter on a pretty regular basis and it's rare day that ENY personally affects me. You should direct your comment to those who refuse to leave their Pony, LA-7, Nikki, Dora, or Spit16.

My comment WAS directed to them. I was agreeing with you!

I wish Hitech would change the list so it would just show the population of each country and the ENY hit if it was applicable.
Its funny, but if you check back Id bet a vast majority of these "ENY" threads are started in the mornings eastern times and almost always by a BISH. :noid

I am curious how do you know who is just sitting in the tower. and second if he answered you doesnt it mean he's still active? as for his answer I think you just made it up. there's times I have fallen asleep while playing due to work hours and I sure as hell would not have answered any questions.

:old: I propose after X amount of time game switches to a cut scene of the O club where several soldiers file in with boot socks w/ bars of soap inside. The go to a table where the tower dweller sits and they all beat him senseless..... followed by a host disconnect :bolt:

Can you program the ENY based on information that is already there?
Not sure if a programming nightmare or not...
You know how you can open up and view how many players are online per country?
You can view how many are actually in flight. Is it possible to base ENY by how many are in flight vs. how many are simply online in a tower?
I don't think the real complaint is about people in the tower. The real issue here IMHO is it is a burden on ENY.
Make sense?

If they do this for perks.... they must be terrible at everything except dieing. :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl

I thought HiTech clearly stated that folks sitting in a tower do NOTHING to affect eny. :headscratch: Or did I misread that? :headscratch:

You misread it. They do affect ENY, but the numbers across all countries throughout the day even out and can basically be ignored.
At least that's the way I understand it.

Sometimes i launch a long distance pt ot lvt mission, go to the beach, and come home to find myself in the tower.
These things happen.
Why worry about it?

I was thinking of some gruff looking NKVD officers and a trip to Stalins "Club Siberia"

I'ts not a solution, but , in the air I use Hi eny planes much of the time anyway, -11, yaks, and zeros....get proficient with them, and team up as much as possible. and get alt. See You at 44,000
