Where to DD?

My son was stationed 3 years near Cambridge at RAF Mildenhall with US NAVY. He liked it there.

Supposedly warminster. I should be there June to august. If they authorize (authorise for you northumbrians) a rental, I should be all over that place. Trip still in the works, but it is looking stronger than it was a month ago.

Are you coming over for the gay mardi Gra in Manchester again :)
-
Aye, you going to dress up as smurfette again. I loved your dress last year!

Dogdirt, I'm jealous!
Our son was stationed at RAF Lakenheath, we visited twice and loved it.
I also endorse a Road Trip to RAF Conningsby to see the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor's Center, then dash on over to "The Petwood Hotel" at Woodhall Spa and have a Pint at the the Squadron 617 Bar (See: https://www.petwood.co.uk/about/history) for more details. We stayed there a couple days at The Petwood and it was fun! (Will also educate about the 'Lancstukas' :-) )
Also having a couple Pints at The Eagle Pub in Cambridge is a worthwhile experience.
Waay too many things to visit and see in the UK, but I found those to be particularly rewarding!
Enjoy the trip, hope you get to link up with a few fellow AH III folks while you are there!

If I ever get the chance to see parts of the world outside the U.S. the British Isles is where I'd most like to go, first. Im all into the geology there, and castles and Roman forts. I'm green with envy, DD. Hope all goes well.

I was at Mildenhall and Lakenheath for short TDYs back in the '70s. The good thing about England is you never have to travel very far to get somewhere. That and they speak English, tho in a funny way. For food they would put anything in a pie. I liked the custard tho. The drunken sots in the pubs were a riot to drink with.
Strange that the streets were very clean but the public crappers were not. Anyway I'm sure everything is much more International now 40 years later.

Lot of great history over there. Lot of bad things happening now in public places.
