Title: Numbers and letters

On the "Town map", what does the vertical S,M,L, the horizontal 1-8 and all the numbers and letters in the rectangle box mean. What code is it please. I think the S,M,L is small , medium and large fields.

It's for identifying the guns in town. There are 8 guns (code: gng) in each town, but they have different identifyiers depending on the field type they are at.

So gun number 7 on the clipboard town map will be called GNG00D on a small map, GNG00E on a medium map and GNG01B on a large map.

Call me crazy, but since it's the same town on S, M & L fields, why aren't all the guns just directly labeled 1-8?  What am I missing?

The base sizes and the number of the auto guns on each base affected the gun numbers in the towns of those bases.  It was the same in AH2.  The gun numbers in the towns were probably assigned after the base guns were assigned.
