Title: Emergency jettison
Post by: atlau on May 23, 2017, 08:50:44 PM
Is there a key stroke to dump all ords without having to rotate thru all your weapons and external tanks? If not, why not add one?

not that I know of.
and you know if it didna have it in real life of WWII it won't be here.  but then again I doubt real WWII bombers could double as fighters as well.

I know you aren't asking me, just my opinion

I don't think any plane in the War had an oh crap dump everything so I don't get shot by an enemy fighter button. -1

Modern planes do so not sure when that function became common.

Also useful in real life for more typical emergency situations such as engine failures etc

The B-17 and B-24 both had an emergency bomb drop system.  IIRC on both airplanes it dropped them through the bomb doors -- in the B-17 the door mechanism had a breakaway point that could be reset but in the B-24 it would peel the doors out of the track causing damage and a need to be repaired before return to service.

Noted on on B-17 & B-24. He's talking about a fighter see mention of external tanks.

well I use the X-52 and X-52pro and I have my secondary weapon button mapped to my throttle on the thumb switch no problem droping the ords-except for rockets have to be fired-I can see were a drop  everything at once  switch/button can be useful.

because not everybody has a X-52
