I notice the WEP control is not in the console either.
-
I am pretty sure A6Ms never had wep
-
I'm certain they did, top left console just to the right of the high altitude mixture control. That's the lever on the front left above and in front of the throttle quadrant on the Zeke 52. the hole is in the console where it's supposed to go.

I didn't find any mention of a consumable water-methanol or nitrous-injection WEP system. 'Overstressing' the engine for short periods might have been done but that's another argument. Or perhaps you're already getting the max all the time like some of the Yaks.

Nrshida, on most WWII fighters WEP is just a higher manifold pressure and RPM setting that was limited in time. Of the 109s in this game only the G-14 and K-4 has a MW50 injection system. All the other variants still has WEP, but it's just a higher power setting.

Yup, thanks, I had occasion recently to do a little research:-

Are you sure? I thought only the Emil had no MW tank? The AHIII WEP table implies all 109s post Emil have the same WEP system / duration:-

Please do weigh in on either my Ki-84 thread or this one:-

Where I volunteered to lead the research for a complete revision of the WEP durations. Obviously I am more focussed on consumables. If you have specialist knowledge / references maybe it would help encourage a review :salute

Yes I'm sure. The German WEP limits don't really fit well to the generic WEP system in the game. The Germans used several levels of WEP typically with a 30 minute limit for the "climb and combat" setting with one or two emergency settings of 1-10 minutes depending on engine. I think HTC just averaged everything out and gave the LW rides 10 minutes of generic "WEP" time. Except the 109E which has 5 minutes. In real life it had a 3 minute limit on max emergency power and a 10 minute (IIRC) time on the regular combat setting. When you need to fit every plane into the same format something is bound to not fit very well.

The Nakajima NK1 Sakae engine had water-methanol injection in a later version but not in the model 12 used in the A6M.

-
The A6m6 had the sakea 31 which had water methanol injection. non of the earlier ones did.
-
Yup, as featured in the Ki-43 Mark III I read.
Interesting info on the 109s PR3D4TOR, thanks.

The Oscar and Zeke used the same type of engine and the Oscar has It. The Zeke that was at The Santa Monica Museum of Flying had It, Also One reference In publication is The Great Book Of World Ear II Airplanes. Page 611 and 613 show it just to the left of the exhaust temp gauge and below the hi alt mixture control So I still wonder Why the Zeke wan not modeled with IT. The a real bi7 has it too. I wonder why Ah one doesn't.
-
AFAIK the Zeke displayed in Santa Monica was a replica (or parts from a bunch of A6M3:s with some new parts) with a Pratt & Whitney engine...
And as already stated above:
The A6m6 had the sakae 31 which had water methanol injection. non of the earlier ones did.

I was there before they started restoring the Zeke and got in the cockpit when hanging out there. it still had the original oem equiptment and bullet holes. some wep was just opening the throttle an extra measure, Regardless real Zekes had It no matter what kind.
-
Also I was only referring to the type 32 and 52.

Evidence your claim Rodbustr and I'm sure it will be addressed eventually. Good luck :salute

What was the difference between the A6m32 and the A6m52?
The both had the Nakajima NK1F Sakae 21 at the same HP and from what I can find pretty much everything else.
Also the 52 was about 70 kg's heavier then the 33, where did that extra weight go? Both were about 200 kg's heavier then the A6M21 but they also had 225 more HP, I cant find any reliable figures on the differences in range and top speed between the 21 and 33/52. Does anyone know? Thanks.
