Title: Field and town orientation
Post by: cav58d on May 29, 2017, 12:34:22 AM
I should know this by now, but how is field and town orientation determined?  On some maps it seems like fields are always "north up" and towns NE-SW, and on others it's random.

How does that work?

Thanks!

When a terrain is created, the person making it decides not only where the bases are but also their orientation to the terrain.

Roger that.

I like the randomness of town/airfield orientation.  Bomber pilots shouldn't be able to line up on hangar 0 and 3 from 10 sectors out.  Visually identify the target, or get some squaddies to recon and tell you orientation, but randomness and challenge is a good thing.

thanks.

If only the field orientation was random every time a map came up. :)  But that would require a rewrite of the entire system. :noid
