Would it be possible to add a feature that would allow us to rotate the clipboard maps in 90 degree segments? Right now the orientation is "North Up" only. If I were in a real airplane i'd simply rotate the map in my lap, but that's not really possible with my monitor :)
Thanks!

If we're going to do that, I'd prefer a field map track up rotation, but yes, if track up is not possible, then something close to it would help.
-
I would prefer track up too, but the rotate 90 degrees seems like a more logical implement.
-
Why not just open the map that’s in your MAP folder. Then you can rotate it and label it N, E, S, W after the name and place it back in the MAP folder? Then while in flight select the one you want. You can also put the indication of orientation on the map itself. If you are asking for the main map that would seem to be a challenge trying to display Icons with the rotation.

clipboard maps are north south east and west just like real life. why would you want to mess with that?

Because if I am approaching from any direction other then from the South the map isn't orientated with my movement. A track up type of orientation is how 99 out of 100 pilots use a map for navigation. If we can't get constant track up, the ability to rotate in 90 degree segments is next best thing.
Adding the maps as someone suggested is a final solution, but who wants to add that many maps? 4 x's more maps is just clutter.

You could always print the maps....

Full screen map option. Full screen map option. :pray
A real map is not limited by a kneeboard. :salute
That said, I see the OP's point but have grown perfectly accustomed to North Up Mode in AH.

1ijac has some maps out for ah3-really done well 19 maps to be exact 1 for every type of field including strats- they list all the all the details that the clipboard like how many and type of guns are on ant type field

I've always been a north up kind of guy. I only turn the map to track up if moving through difficult terrain (tight mountain pass or bombing a large field) then it's back to north up. For me it's easier to stay oriented using north up. An option in game to slew the map would be fine.

As an actual pilot in surprised to hear that, but then again, I'm a child of the magenta line :)

He is referring to the game.
I'm with him.
In the game okay.
When I am flying from CA to NY okay North Up sucks.
Columbo is not being inconsistent here at all.
Frankly............I can't recall how I taught my nuggets to use a Sectional.................... ..and that was less than five years ago.

Me, too. Including in a real plane. Over the decades I've just become accustomed to thinking of maps as North Up. When I follow the magenta line I have to consciously calculate which direction the wind blows from, not to mention where all the subsequent waypoints are.

My biggest complaint about PL21 is Nexrad display is only available on a North Up map. Different strokes for different strokes <S>
Anyways thanks for listening HTC, and I appreciate your future implementation of my request =)

No, real life in the cockpit...north up.

As BowHTR said, you can always print the maps out and orient them on your desktop to your flight direction. I sent you the map pack Lyme. All of my printable maps are North up. Let me know if you don't receive them.

Got them, thanks! <S>
