Heh.  Not too far from what happened when they turned the flight service stations over to Lockheed Martin.

Bad idea.   The airlines will rule the roost and screw it all up. General Aviation will get killed.

I'm all for privatization but the US Airspace System is a vital national interest on par with the military/defense.   Stop raiding the fuel tax trust fund and we wouldn't even need this discussion.

The American ATC system is the best in the world.  Nobody comes close, particularly at this volume.

Same thing happened up here in Canada shortly after I left the ATC IFR/enroute job I had in the 90s.  Transport Canada/ATC went to a private company, NAVCanada, with...mixed results at best.

Which hasn't worked out too well.

I fear this.

The FAA already has privatization.   Many tower facilities are contracted out as it is.   But to turn the entire system over?    Let's privatize the Navy.   Makes as much sense.   A vital national interest is at stake.   Don't fool with it.

Seems like a bad idea and from what ive read most aviation experts seems to agree on that.

OT: Having a state monopoly on selling alcohol have some nice side effects, It makes the cheap stuff more expensive but it also makes the expensive stuff cheaper. just bought one of these for ~45 $

There seems to be movement towards more privatization of security at airports. I should be able to give an opinion if this is a good move or a bad one but I can't even tho I was a cop at a major one for a few years.

I can say this tho, the current setup scares hell out of me. Ive flown out of a lot of foreign airports and went thru Istanbul twice. Atatürk INTL has the heaviest security Ive ever seen at an airport including regular Army with armor and still terrorists shot their way in and killed 40 people.

A whole lot of things at airports are "privatized". A whole lot of airport workers have criminal backgrounds.

Rent seeking tolls are not capitalism.  Read Adam Smith.

This is a bad idea.
