are we cool to use those or are they defunct or?
Not sure cause I know we have a cloud editor and cloud shapes in the terrain editor.
Just like we have an object editor and object shapes in the terrain editor.
Are the clouds ok to use?
Also is there any easy way to look at compound objects without placing them on the map? I'm looking for like a really cool factory or cityscape and it's taking me a really long time to guess what each code name might mean and place each and every thing on the map looking for something like a large factory or city that looks good for what I'm trying to do.
When I click on possibilities in object viewer the big screen never shows the larger objects like cities and stuff.

I don't know about your clouds, but I wouldn't use them. That's just me.
There are three ways to find the square tile objects.
1. The in-game clipboard maps of fields and such are stored in your map folder.
2. Create a new terrain named sqrtile and past the following text into the oba file.
3. Cull the objects out of the following text for your list
4. They're in the latest TE manual but it isn't posted.
Here's the text, I think they're all here, for a new terrain named sqrtile. Enjoy.

Thanks Easyscor,
Also just to be clear, those clouds came with the editor when you use "show all objects". But I'll just not use them.
I don't know about your clouds, but I wouldn't use them. That's just me.

I forgot to say, use Level terrain under square tile objects to bring the ground up.

okay, thanks again :salute

Another quick note on elevations on tile objects that Easy found a while which applies to just to ports (e.g. port1m00). Make sure their elevation is always at 1 (Y:1) there are times when you place them that they are placed at (Y:0) but that causes issues with GVs on the tile if I remember correctly what Easy found about a year ago (unless that bug has been fixed now).

thanks :aok

I just use the skin viewer to look at all the objects if I need to find something. Only a small number won't show up and some for the very large spread out objects will not allow you to move at them other than a snail's pace with "W". If I get confused about an object, I plop it down and look at it, there is no rule saying you then cannot delete it and be gone with the thing if it is not what you think it is. Lord knows how many none standard objects I laid down then deleted back when Waffle wanted me to write his name in cursive using only I16's on the end of the marsden matting on my terrain called gunnery. I was creating a photo op of all the rides in the game lined up on the tarmac during the alpha\beta because Hitech wanted them for the FaceBook page.
Wait for Hitech to fix the weather\cloud editor. By default when you choose the new cloud types, they are in 50x50 mile weather systems.
ghost,
I've been placing them at 6ft because lower I was running into some strange issues building the shoreline on either side touching the object. It made leveling easier by reopening the object properties and hitting apply which then resolved the two touch points into smoother blends. Level on square objects once I'm in say 50 base and town objects can create tiny surprises that require another visit to all bases, strats and towns on the terrain. After two full visits on BowlMA, I learned to use that thing sparingly and instead, use apply from the properties GUI after I ensured setting the object with one of the 4 cardinal directions with rotate. I also don't like using it because it's unacceptable to me to look at a field that is level on three corners and a divot with vertical walls or a 90 degree angle corner buttress. It only takes a few minutes to blend the local terrain and the field so the players have a semi believable view of the area. I made three complete passes of all objects on BowlMA because of things like that. Like cabinetry when you decide meh, I'll just hide these scratches instead of taking 30 minutes to fix them.

The cldxx shape files are no longer used.
If you wish to make your own clouds you can with ahclds. It creates a .cld file that you can put in your texsrc folder. Any weather system you create for a terrain can use those clouds.
The new cloud system can either replace HTC cloud types, or extend them with larger numbers.

thank you, I'll have to try out ahclds.
