Where does chocolate milk come from?
Sounds like a simple question but from the survey results, it might not be for some of 'us', 'us' being Americans.

I'm wondering if us Canucks should spread a rumour that Canadian maple syrup comes from beaver tails?

1 in 5 adults do not know that hamburgers are made from beef
3 in 10 didn't know that cheese is made from milk

Absolutely basic information.

So, clicking through that site and the links, I'm not finding any ACTUAL data source. The claim is made that 48% of Americans believe this based on a survey, but where is the actual survey? I'd be curious to see just how this was actually taken...

I have to think that some of the people who answered those polls, particularly the chocolate milk one, incorrectly did so to prank the pollster. Some people can be that stupid, sure, but there are limits to how many can be that stupid.

I agree, it seems all links refer either to other articles about the subject or simply to the organizations mentioned. This one had a link to the hamburger beef survey, though: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2017/06/15/seven-percent-of-americans-think-chocolate-milk-comes-from-brown-cows-and-thats-not-even-the-scary-part/?utm_term=.9f2219bb024c (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2017/06/15/seven-percent-of-americans-think-chocolate-milk-comes-from-brown-cows-and-thats-not-even-the-scary-part/?utm_term=.9f2219bb024c), the link being http://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/ED369890.pdf (http://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/ED369890.pdf). It also had a link to the Californian School Interview: http://www.jae-online.org/attachments/article/1575/52.4.1%20Hess%20and%20Trexler.pdf (http://www.jae-online.org/attachments/article/1575/52.4.1%20Hess%20and%20Trexler.pdf). For the chocolate milk survey the links seem to make a full circle without anyone really taking response of having done it.

Kalifornia would explain a lot of that.

I honestly think it's a biased survey attempting to make things look a certain way. Anytime something THIS ridiculous comes out, and the exact details of the survey are magically unavailable... My gut immediately screams loaded survey. As the saying goes, there are "lies, damned lies, and statistics".
