Title: D-Day +7 Frame 3 - Allied Strike on 127
Post by: Shrike on June 24, 2017, 09:28:15 AM
Nice strike on 127!!  The 162nd (Mossies) and 56th (26’s) clobbered the town with the AK’s (26’s) and 56th taking out most of the hangers.  All 9 AK aircrews and airframes landed safely thanks to the top notch escort from the 412th.  It was a pleasure working your squads.

You guys did another channel crossing to RTB, right?

I left the target area and was headed back to 125 which had been flashing for a couple minutes.  QBert reported high 109's and 190's.  In the corner of my screen I noticed a low black cloud of bombers, and I'm thinking what the hell are the AK's doing flying this close to a flashing base!?!?!?!?!??

It was then I realized the twin engines were of the Jumo brand and so began the great turkey shoot.

Another great attack plan by Weiser and successfully executed by the Allies most dependable squads!

What happen to the defenders at A127?  56th was the first to show up in bombers and only spotted one 190.   It was way to easy of a bomb run.

The sweep (p38's and P-47's) engaged multiple groups before the bombers arrived and during egress.

The 475FG engaged Ju88's at 125 and ran into 7 190's in the radar slot before the bombers arrived. Once the bombers were spotted feet dry we pushed ahead and engaged 190's and 109's in a large group over 127 along with the P-47 sweep.

We got them below 10,000 and then went south to sweep 128 and ran into another bunch and ran them into the AAA before egressing.
