you were close enough that splash damage from your 30mm hits damaged your engine.

This has happened to me also. Getting a close up snap shot on someone tend to damage me also.

if you get too close to the enemy plane with 30mm shot, it will hurt you. Happens a bit in 1v1 in the DA.
