Title: Microphone Not Working
Post by: Winger1 on July 04, 2017, 05:37:12 PM
Hi,

I need help setting up voice in AH. I hear other people chatting with voice all the time but even after I plug in a couple of different microphones, and pressing the voice transmit button, my voice doesn't go out. Does anyone know what might be going on? I check to make sure that the computer sees the microphone is plugged in and everything.

Hi Winger1,

Have you tested/setup the microphone in Windows, so you're sure it works?

If so, try going in to the Options menu on the clipboard - select Preferences/Game Sounds

You'll see drop down selection lists for Microphone, Speakers, Headset, etc.  Your mike should be shown as a selection in these lists.  I use a couple of different headsets, and sometimes when I switch between them I have to come here and manually change the selection to get it to work.  Happens with my mike fairly often, unless I have it plugged in already when I start the game.

Do you know you can tune yourself to the radio channel to test your transmissions?  You just bring up the radio buffer with the '/' key and type ".radio 5 winger1" (if that's your in-game handle).  Then when you press the channel transmit button, you should hear yourself on channel.

Referring to myself in another thread:

Check your in game microphone settings: Options>Preferences>Game Sounds. You should have your onboard sound device there. Notice that Realtek which is the most common one has both a HighDefinition and Digital in- and outputs. The former is what you should choose.

In Options>Preferences>Voice set the Microphone slider at full to enable the boost slider.

I assume when you press the transmit key, you are holding it down and releasing it after you have spoken the message.
