Title: Herget's Bf-110G
Post by: Greebo on July 05, 2017, 01:46:21 PM
Thanks to Lyric1 for finding the info for this skin.

This is the Bf-110G flown by Wilhelm Herget in 1944 while he was CO of night fighter group NJG 4 and features the nose art used by ZG 76, his former unit.

Herget's combat career began in Poland in 1939 with ZG 76 and continued through the Battles of France and Britain and in Iraq. By November 1941 after he had scored 14 daytime kills he was transferred to the night fighter unit NJG 1, later he transferred to NJG 4 and rose to command that unit in October 1942. By June 1944 he had scored 58 night kills including 8 in one night on 20/21 December 1943. His luck ran out on June 15th though when he had to bail out of his Ju 88 after it was shot up by the British ace Branse Burbridge. In 1945 he joined Adolph Galland's Me 262 unit JV 44 and shot down a P-47D before the war ended.
