Title: Flight Planning Tool
Post by: cav58d on July 23, 2017, 04:30:50 PM
I wish there was a flight planning tool in the hangar where I could input desired altitude, and things like max cruise, long range cruise etc to see range instead of endurance in minutes.

Make your own.  Test how much time and fuel it takes to climb to X altitude with a full load, then how far you can fly at cruise.  A little math, and you have your plan.  Since this is a flight simulator, simulate some plate planning.  It's all part of the fun.

The CO of the 444th Air Mafia, "Mule" use to do that. He would build his missions with all the timings and waypoints and alt changes, everything. I use to amaze me when the fighters on climb out would make the final turn to the target and be swinging in on the buffs who had launched from a different base at a different time to hit the target all at the same time. Great fun!

RIP "Mule"! <S>

AH2 memories about like that for me. :old: Yeah, a little off topic here, but from a bomber group perspective, seeing a couple fighter groups rendezvous at a certain point with us gave me chills sometimes. Very very impressive sight. Miss it.

Kind of related to this.. just a thought.

At the very least, I'd like to just have a simple waypoint/route draw tool on the clipboard for my own use the very same way one is able to draw the route prior to posting a mission.
