I know, I know. We don't need no stinking mirrors in our airplanes. However seeing how they used them in the movie dunkirk in the spitfire was really cool. I would use mine in aces high. Peace

Mirrors are all cool and what not until you realize that now your computer has to display what's in your main view AND the mirror. Which would take a nice FPS hit. I tried them in Iracing, it helped but the fps difference was crazy.

"Objects in mirror are closer than they appear." :old:

From my experience with IL2 and DCS ... it's usually too late/worthless.
-
It would guess it would require a lot more than was most of our system can handle.
-
...plus I think we already effectively have it with our ability to instantly took backwards in tough positions with head settings, TrackIR etc.....
-
In DCS it is only a 2 fps hit. It is very good for seeing if you hit ground targets as you pull up and out....
-
Bruv would just sit on the runway looking at himself all day if we had mirrors in AH :)
-
Not to mention that using a mirror would take a lot more coding. In order to keep the image constantly moving, Hitech would have to restructure the whole game again. And that would take ,,, two more weeks!!
-
no mirrors.....its simple just look back.

So if we had mirrors and it didn't make the game slower and you couldn't look back, I would happily use the mirror, that's the spirit of the thread. Not, why we can't. Sheesh. Sometimes you his are no fun. Lol

I mean it will look more cooler and realistic...Don't get me wrong....

That flick is mostly fiction and folly. Most a/c mirrors vibrated so badly the could not be used, had very poor field of vision and by the time the enemy was spotted in one It was to late. Side note on air battles in Dunkirk AO. virtually all Allied air ops took place out of view and earshot of beach, Also No way would a fighter section ingress to a hostile area at 500 feet. Heck That's lower than a Stuka would pull out of a dive.
