Title: Warbird sighting in Minot, ND
Post by: eddiek on August 02, 2017, 05:28:06 AM

I was working in the shop/yard yesterday afternoon when I heard aircraft engines that sounded different.
Looked to the south/southeast and saw a P-40, F4U, and F4F flying in formation.  They passed to the west towards the airport, then the the P-40 peeled off to the left and into the pattern, followed by the Corsair, then the Wildcat.  Just as the P-40 rolled onto final, I heard another aircraft approaching.....and along comes an Avenger.
The Avenger went right to final approach and landed between the Corsair and Wildcat.
I wasn't aware that there is an air museum in Minot.  I drove out to take a look at the museum (it was closed, so I didn't get a chance to go in) and sure enough, as I drove past the airport, there on the tarmac was a P-40 (complete with shark's teeth), an F4U, F4F, and the Avenger with it's wings folded in stow position.
It was getting late so I didn't stop in and take a closer look at these beauties, but I will try this afternoon to get a closer look and take pics if I can.
