I wish the map makers would remove the trees that sit at the end of the runways, its a very dangerous hazard.

Most of the airfields are a 1x1 mile object that waffle has already placed persistent trees on. He favors a tree on almost each end of each runway next to the runway that can be confusing while you are landing. The end of the runway is clear on the tile while the width of the runway is as wide as a bomber. Those trees to the side make you think there is no room. As for the ground around the 1x1 tile, that is up to the terrain builder or Waffle or even someone Waffle asks to spend a day touching it up. On my terrains I push the land around the tile back with grass for 1\2 mile because I don't like GV's getting a free ride sneaking onto the airfield to shoot your plane and de-ack the field.
One would think in the real world putting an airfield in a combat zone where enemy tanks can assault that field, the builders would push back a kill zone to protect their aircraft and base. In the Pacific on islands there was very little odds of a Japanese tank assault on the air strips. Pictures from England of WW2 air bases showed open feilds around the base.

Real airfields and airports don't have trees on them, having them around the hangers and runways is a real joke, That is the first thing My aviation and military buddies coment on when thw see Me play. Second is the trees around the gun positions,

Hmm, when I search WWII airfields, you can find tress around the fields.

Some had trees in close proximity to them but not on them. ideally at any base that had a threat of enemy assault had vegetation removed out to at least 500 yards. but not planted around the hangers, gun pits, taxi and runways. and all bases in AH3 are potential tagets for a ground assault.
