Title: AA guns
Post by: ONTOS on August 06, 2017, 07:11:53 PM
I beg you once again, move the AA guns away from runway on medium airfields. Landing with oil all over the wind screen and a crippled plane is  bad enough. Also taking off in twilight , is hard to keep on runway. I know. auto take off will do the job on take offs, but not on landings.

Yup, just take the time to do it right, crippled plane or not.

If you cant land on the runway you get a ditch, and if you cant stay on the runway there is no reason to land on the field at all, just land on any open spot..

But it seems like a common problem that people cannot land their airplanes, most people just belly land on the runway.

For take off: Be gentle on the throttle, stick back and counter w rudder.
Landing: Flaps out, manual trim, flare, stick back when on runway and gentle on rudder and brakes.

Some folks just don't have the patience to learn how to land properly. What they don't realize is that learning to land will make them better combat pilots.  Learning to land the plane teaches you a lot about controlling the plane and how to maneuver better.

I don't use auto take off and have never hit anything except when coming up short in an I16 and hoping it would roll to the runway.

although I don't need to use auto takeoff I use it anyway, F4U's can be a little squirrely on takeoff sometimes

shilo what planes do you crash land most in-I can't teach you how to land as we all can. but you would have to change to Knights. are you talking about trying to land a wounded bird, then all bets are off if damaged no matter how clear the runway is u have to land on ruway to get your name in lights. but even if you don't land on runway you still get your perks if you have any kills.
