I got these two wheels about a year ago.  The seller had no idea what they were from.  I posted about it here but photobucket no longer allows 3rd party hosting…

Last night I found a website describing how the F8U Crusader originally had a spoked front wheel, but later switched to a solid hub because of the hard carrier landings.

This is the closest I have found so far, and the size looks right.

If those are, indeed, Crusader wheels..That's just freakin' awesome!  Definitely my favorite bird of the era.

There is a Naval Air Museum down in my neck of the woods, Pensacola, FL.  There is a research library there and they helped me a lot years ago when I was trying to track down information on B-26 Invaders used in the Korean War.

Here's a link (http://www.navalaviationmuseum.org/attractions/aircraft-exhibits/item/?item=f-8_crusader) to the museum and their Crusader page.  Looks like it has the solid wheels you mentioned.

Get in contact with them and I'd bet you there is someone there that can help ID your wheels for certain.  You'd be amazed at the information and photographs those folks have access to.

For everyone else, this museum has a lot of online and interactive things such as cockpit panoramas and such.  Check it all out from the link above.  In four hours walking around the place you risk severe dehydration from drooling so much at these airplanes that (most) have been restored to pristine condition.  There's another batch outside you can walk through, such as a C-47 and a few others.  Static displays of guns, bombsights, engines, space capsules, you name it.  If anyone travels down this way you do not want to miss this. 

- AND - If you're here on a Mon - Wed around 8:30am, you can walk out back and watch the Blue Angels practice their air show and it's completely free, as is all of the museum except for the IMAX theater shows.
