After an in game-update to the current version, and after a full install on top of my current version I receive the error message;
Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file.
AH worked for me before this update, but not now,
Nothing else on my machine has changed.

Remove the desktop ICON (I assume you are trying to start the game using it), then reinstall the full version of the game over the top of your existing version of the game and let it build a new desktop ICON.
Or make the ICON yourself.
Also note, sometimes rebooting the computer after the update will correct the problem.
The issue stems from the files being patched and Windows getting confused where the shortcut should be pointing. Most likely some anti-xxxx software is partially involved in creating the problem.

Restarting made no difference.
This is what happens when I delete the shortcut and try to install either the update or the full version on top of the original game:
Output folder: C:\Hitech Creations\Aces High II (<-This is the correct location on my computer)
Extract D3DCompiler_47.dll... 100%
Extract D3DX9_43.dll... 100%
Extract aceshigh11.exe... 100%
At this point I get the error message; "Error opening file for writing. C:\Hitech Creations\Aces High III\aceshigh9.exe".
The DX11 version works but no DX9.

I saved my settings and map folders and deleted the game, then I installed the game and it now works.

That last error normally means one of two things; 1) The file got marked as read-only, which can happen with a lot of security software or 2) The executable it still running in memory and Windows has locked it. Normally, a reboot fixes this last issue.
