Title: Steam Engine Screenshot Shortcut
Post by: wil3ur on August 23, 2017, 11:53:58 PM
Steam uses F12 for screenshots.  It's having the nasty habit of taking multiple screenshots while I'm on chan and causing some system spikes.

you can remap F12 in game and for steam.  I personally use F11 for steam screenshots

Sweet, thanks -- didn't think F12 was mapable in game.  I probably woulda changed that years ago, but am too used to it now.  :D

Still -- I'm not sure if it's something that might be added to the startup clipboard or something just a friendly shout out to steam users that this may cause issues if not remapped.  So far it's the only key I've found in game that interferes with it.

I have run into this in other games as well. There was an annoying one some time back where the overlay used F1 and/or F2 and I had those mapped to things. Quite annoying. At least you can work around this one.

In Steam you can disable them, Steam -> Settings -> Screenshot shortcut keys (set to none)

Yes but then you can't share screenshots to the steam community page.

You can share them as "Artwork" and they show up on the community hub.
