Title: Preventing another controller from showing up in control list
Post by: Randy1 on August 24, 2017, 03:35:08 PM
I have a Madcatz steering wheel and pedals from an xbox360 which works fine on the PC for my racing game.

The problem is AH using VR  automatically assigns the xbox based controller functions like brakes while taking them away from my normal rudder pedals.  Also every time I start the game in VR, I have to press the "B" button on the steering wheel to get rid of the xbox controller diagram showing what the xbox controller controls.

Any ideas on how to prevent the steering wheel based on a xbox controller from affecting AH?

I would unplug it.

YUP. Sounds like when the Touch controllers are recognized and in the way!  :x This does sound weird though, even with the XBOX controller and Touch controls, if they arent mapped are considered neutral in AH.Maybe go into controll options and make sure they are not mapped? FLS may have just nailed it....Show off  :neener:

Unplug it is not an option.

In VR, changing the controllers to "None" is just about an hours work.

Maybe HTC could add a "Remove Controller" or something like that.

If Skuzzy does not have anyway to fix this, I will make it a wish.

I usually keep a G25 wheel plugged in but it doesn't cause any problems with Aces High. I don't understand why unplugging yours isn't optional and more practical then HTC changing their program.

At this moment there is no way to stop the game from detecting active input devices.  It is not designed to.  Quite the opposite.

The thing is, once you have mapped everything, it will not change unless you change the physical input devices (remove, add and so on).

I'm confused. Just because AH sees the controller, whatever it may be, doesn't mean that controller is doing anything within the game if it hasn't been mapped to do so. If there's say, a game pad plugged into the PC and windows sees it, it will show up in AH. Just don't map any axii in AH and it won't control anything in AH. If there are macros mapped to the game pad via it's software then create a blank profile with nothing mapped to the buttons. Voila! It's kind of useless unless you map something directly to it in AH. Or did I miss something?

When AH sees a new controller it automatically assigns functions to the new controller.  A button function like bomb drop is not a problem but all the analog functions get pulled away from your joystick and are then assigned by AH program to the xbox controller in my case.

That means you have to reassign every function in every mode.  A real pain especially in VR.

IF AH would drop and or prevent these auto assignments that would help.

When the game sees a new controller it has a default setting for it will map the default settings to that controller.  If you correct it, then it will stay corrected.
